You do know, that in Birkenhead , that's a perfectly acceptable Christmas decoration ?

If I was to make a list of all the managers I didn't want at Everton it would go like this;-
Benitez. For obvious reasons. Good manager though.
Moyes. Again for obvious reasons. Respect the stability he brought us and the 09/10 era side.
Allardyce. Because he's a corrupt, odious, arrogant buffoon whose teams mostly play crap football.
O'Neill. I cannot adequately put into words how much I despise this useless , opinionated little lump of excrescence. When he managed Villa, Moyes proved he was by far the better manager and we rightly didn't want him back so why settle for this failed Irish reject? I hope these rumours are false.
Out of the hundreds of managers round the world we could pursue why even consider the above?

Having given this matter a bit of thought, I am not as averse to the idea as I was initially.

Leave aside all the supposedly unrealistic names mentioned like Tuchel, Simeone, LVG, Ralf from Germany etc.

Who the heck are we left with?

That MON is preferable to the Allerdyche Brothers is axiomatic IMO.

He has achieved more in the game than Silva, won't cost an arm and a leg to sign and would appear to me to be able to organise a defence better than the Portuguese chap.

And sadly way better than Unsie has appeared thus far.

Trophy winner in England with an unfashionable club.....took Villa to a top six spot three years in a row, I think.

Took Celtic to a European final...... beating the RS home and away en route

Learned his trade watching Cloughie in his heyday.

And he has managed in both the Champions League and the Euros.

Not an elite manager by any means but better than the usual suspects one sees on the managerial merry go round.

One concern is his age......same as ol' Khal.....64.

But on the other hand his age means it would not be a long stewardship at The Park.

If he could come in, get us back on track and put us into a position where we have a better chance of picking his successor from higher up the totem pole.

Not saying I am fully on board with the idea.... but I won't be fuming if he gets the job ;)

I have learned a new word here tonight, an excellent word, and I thank you.
