Marko Arnautovic

Dont rate him. More inconsistent than consistent. You say he can "play" on the left, to slow and way to little skill, Pienaar on a bad day was better.

He will probably be used a sub who can come on and use his strength and add some height.

Better than Niasse so I hope he proves me wrong. Still not a player who can get us into Champions League IMO
was consistent last year as advised by the stoke fan that was posted earlier so reckon for that price its good business.
need competition in every position otherwise players get comfortable and levels drop

A player I like to dislike, but I don't really know if it is because of his stupid haircut or he can look like a very good footballer at times, playing for a club other than Everton.

At the fee mentioned he would be a very good signing. Would the squad be stronger if he signed ?, yes it would.
The next couple of days will tell us if we have a genuine interest or we are being used as a lever to extract more money from Stoke.
They certainly won't want to lose him.

I know Kevin Mirallas is back as flavour of the month, but, I still don't believe that long term he is the type of player Koeman likes. I don't think he works hard enough defending and can be too selfish when attacking, but that is just my opinon and time will tell .

Yep not like this shiny new Everton we all know and love, signing all of these exciting players.

Oh wait...

Arnautovic, or McGeady, Niasse or Kone?

I think its clear to see that there would be an improvement there - just because you don't rate the player you surely must see how he would improve the squad??

Or do you prefer the other players? we have lost plenty of players and need replacements for the other poorer players in the squad. A point i have made to you a few times but gets conveniently ignored.

I hate using the ignore button. I have made an obvious exception based on the last few pages of this thread.

As Leicester proved football is a team game. Everyone we sign does not have to meet my or anyone else's definition of a star. They have to meet the criteria agreed between Koeman and Walsh within a budget set by the board.

For the sake of argument just assume we have c. £100m. Then take the Echo's view that Koeman wants a GK, RB, CM & strike-force (wide players, CF) and that the sale of Stones funds any new CB. This implies £100m has to cover around 5-6 players excluding CB. Basic maths says the average will be £16-20m per player.

In this context we need to make half our signings in the £7-15m range to enable 2-3 £25-30m players. At £12.5m Arnautovic is a relative bargain, big, fits a need position (wide left) & is better than McGeady/Kone/Cleverley in that role.

Let us wait this out, see who we do/don't get and then assess how we feel.

I won't have a problem with Arnotovic as long as we sell Cleverley for around 10 mil, think that could be seen as good business.

That's the mad thing as a club we don't even deny things in the media, in fact we don't get told sod all

The club did warn at the start of the summer there would be lots of rumours and don't believe anything until its on the official website.

Which while relevant, it takes them an extra 24 hours to announce anything the world knows.
