Why does it always have to be we get rid of a player to buy a new one, Hibbo has been great this season and i think he has really improved his attacking game this year. He is one of the best defenders in the team and i think Moyes likes a core of local and English lads in the squad to keep it grounded and have a sense of who we are and were were from.

Nev and Hibbo are certs to stay as far as im concerned, wheather Jaco will stay or not is debatable, i wouldnt mind dropping a few mill on the likes of Naughton at Sheff Utd and let him grow and develop with the likes of Mofro, Roders, Gos, Bax etc.

Lets face it we are not going to drop 10 mill on Glen Johnson.

Its all about depth kids, we dont always have to sell player because players are not in the side or they dont play in a praticualr game (points to one Leiighton of Baines), we need to think about SQAUD, there is no such thing as bit part players when your playing 50-60 games a season.

Tony Hibbert is not slow but neither is he what you might call rapid . He got done for pace by Young . He was slaughtered by Robiniho ( A brief glimpse into the future ? ) He was made to look a fool by Ronaldo .

Now admittedly these are players of supreme ability but this is the kind of test we need our right back to be able to atleast have a decent chance of repelling in order to maintain our continuing path of progress .

Hibbert is one footed this is never more apparent than when he actually makes it over the half-way line and has to cut back or inside to attempt a cross , at this point I usually have my hand firmly over my face . His crossing is awful , not a good thing when we are pilling into the area in the last minute with Cahill primed to pounce only for hibbert to hit the church roof with a left footed pile driver . Whilst it keeps a roofer in work it doesnt take Everton forward .

There are many things Tony Hibbert does that annoy me greatly . One of them is the way adopts a praying mantis position when the defender is attacking him . Instead of adopting a solid stance and facing down his attacker and keeping him as far away from the penalty box as is possible Hibbert instead scuttles backwards thus losing his balance and equally his positional sense whilst the attacker simply follows this idiotic defender to the edge of the area then goes around him and nets ( See Robiniho ) I have seen that happen countless times and I am astonished by people who claim Hibbert is an excellent defender . He is not .

Tony Hibbert cannot ping and pick out attacking midfielders making cutting movements into the oppositions defensive areas . This is a priceless asset . Can you imagine an attacking right back with this ability linking up with pienaar . Hibberts passsing is woefully inept .

Hibberts heading of the ball ..........in short s**t .

Another thing ive noticed about Hibbert is that he never appears to TALK . I have noticed that Tim Howard is always shouting at him not to drift or atleast he tries to comunicate with Hibbert , Hibbert and correct me if I am wrong simply ignores him . Dont believe me ? Just watch on Saturday . He is always getting caught out because he doesnt appear to comunicate well with the rest of the team . I have even witnessed a bemused Tim Cahill ask him whilst defending a corner " Can you hear alright hibbo ? "

I would start with Jacobsen against Chelsea . I wouldnt hesitate

Very good point.

You sir, obviously do not know how to defend yourself. If you stand up to a player like Robinho or Young, they'll knock it past you and your out of the game completely. You 'scuttle back' as you called it, you keep yourself in it, and don't commit yourself to a stupid tackle.

And the fact that you just named Robinho, Ronaldo and Young - 3 of the fastest and trickiest wingers in the League, is completely unfair. You would face a player of this calibre twice a season...I say twice, because Young is a pile of ****, and uses his pace and stepovers to conceal the amount of diving he does.

I know how to defend . I played to a very high level ( NSW soccer league of ex-pats (y) ) in the centre of defence . Backing off and backing off hardly ever works . You get close very fcuking close then stand your ground whilst SLOWLY moving backwards . At this point the attacker has three options he either goes wide or cuts inside and when he does either your primed to strike . If he chooses to go round you your that close that its a straight fight as its alot easier to keep tight when its a standing start and as is normal practice by your holding up the attacker the cetral defenders are right behind you.

If you want to watch how its done watch Jags . He is never far away from his man and he NEVER backs off .

How often does Jags come face to face with a player as fast as Ronaldo, Robinho or Young?

If you stand your ground against someone as fast as these, you are committing defensive suicide. You back off and they'll knock it past you and run. Simple as.

When he came up against Torres . He simply played him into frustration at our place . He was that tight on him allnight that Torres looked close to tears . Thats how you play attackers with speed .

You dont do it like United did at OT when they played Liverpool . Liverpool simply played him off plug who by the way is vastly overated .

We never went to him all the time at all. We simply played the way he doesn't like, and got close to him in the first place.

If you get close to your man at full back, you'll be turned all over the show. In the middle, when there is less room, there is no chance your getting turned as easily, as you have your other centre half.
