Mark Hughes SACKED

..not a club noted for sackings, Stoke owners need to appoint quickly in the hope of doing some business in this transfer window.
With numerous clubs already wielding the axe, many of the notable survival specialists already seem to have jobs so it may be difficult for them.

When Martin O'Neill, Michael O'Neill and Ryan Giggs are current favourites - although that can mean very little - I doubt they'll be full of optimism.

You can currently get Pulis at between 22/1 up to a whopping 50/1 with Betway, which I could actually see happening if no one else is available.

Koeman will relegate them and then blame Hughes.

I really hope gary rowett doesn't go there and ruin his name.

if rowett gets derby up, id fancy him as our new manager in the long term.

he has out done himself at some very lowly clubs

He'll get another job before you know it, he's one of a number of Premier League career managers who never seem to struggle to get a job in this league. Then again, you could put Sam Allardyce in this category.

Hughes has consistently failed at what he offers though. Allardyce up to this point and if you ignore the England job has always been hired as a firefighter and he's succeeded at saving clubs in trouble time and time again. Hughes has always eyes above his station. He got the City job and lauded it over the likes of us when trying to sign Lescott claiming he was at a club that could match his ambition.... ultimately he couldn't match theirs. He promised QPR they wouldn't ever be in a relegation battle again after taking them over. I can't remember if he was the managed who got them relegated or if he was sacked beforehand but he certainly didn't help. He came into Stoke promising the fans they would never play the Pulis way again, spoke of challenging for Europe and the top 4 and call the Stokalona nonsense because he’d signed a few big club rejects and now look at them. Ultimately Hughes has never left a club in a better state than when he found it.

No doubt about that, but i just mentioned that neither struggles to find work in the Prem which should surprise me because every manager in the world surely wants to come here which usually means that if someone fails they are thrown on the scrap heap and somebody new is given a shot, but the likes of Hughes as you point out and others such as Pardew seem to be the go to men of the bottom half clubs. It just points to an astonishing lack of ambition from these sides, its not like every club is broke anymore either. Owners love that premier league wonga though, if one of these tools can keep you in the league year after year without any motive of progression it seems to be accepted.
