Transfer Rumour Marcos Rojo

He is talented but always struck me as quite unhinged at times. On bright note he is likely to put the Salah and half of Liverpool on crutches. If Mo thought Ramos was nuts he hasn't seen anything yet.

I think the initial idea when he was bought was to play a back 3 with rojo as the lcb . I am reading that silva wants him mainly because he is a left footed cb . We can only quote stats , but what is going inside a managers mind and where is he planning to use a certain player (based on certain attributes of a player , not all of which can be quantified ) we dont know . So i wud rather trust the gaffer and be positive abt rojo if he is signed .

Fair point, I was just asking the question. I wasn't being negative, any player incoming ultimately has the 'will he succeed' question hanging over him. God knows we desperately need a CB to come in and shore up our defence.

Rojo is a far better defender (currently) than Zouma.

You've all got a bad case of the Zats.

Btw, I would have Zouma at the right price, just as I'd have Rojo at the right price.

I enjoy your posts mate and generally find them to be interesting, knowledgable and informative.

On Rojo though I think you are wrong.

In a back 3 I could just about accept him.

But one of 2 centre halves he is a total liability.

Zouma has more pace , ability and reads the games better as well as having better physicality.

Nothing to do with your post mate but you have the best handle ever - the greatest ever album.

Why are there shouts in here for the two centrebacks who took West Brom down? Evans and Hegazi are poor and so is Zouma. All three were shocking last season and we should be steering well clear.

I agree with you on this apart from Hegazi mate, I thought he was very good whenever I saw him last season.

People have clearly forgotten how bad Keane and Williams are if you think Rojo is as poor as them. The reminder will come undoubtedly and then people will wish we’d signed Rojo.

I think Rojo will be a bit like Walcott, who's reception was a bit luke warm at first, but you could see from game 1 he was a cut above what we have. We finished on 49 points last season, most of the sides in the top 6 are 70+ points and only less if they end up dropping the league points to focus on cups if they are out of the running. 5 years ago it would be like comparing a side who's 13th to one that was 3rd. Their squad players are better than our first team players.

That being said my 2 worries are; firstly his price. We should be paying nowhere near what has been mentioned. Secondly I do worry we are just repeating the mistakes of the last couple of years, albeit doing so more sensibly. It is more Allarcyde than Walsh/Koeman but in the end unless we sign players with a resale value we get to the same predicament.

The lads a decent player though. He played at Goodison one year and I felt Lukaku was going to run riot against him and Jones, and basically they both shut him out and were as defensively solid as any side at Goodison. They went on a good run and kept a lot of clear sheets. Neither of them were glamorous names but they were both impressive around that time.

He is one of the main reasons why teams can beat United, awful player who pulls off 3 great games a season, the rest of the time he's awful.
