Transfer Rumour Marcos Rojo

If we sign him for 30m or whatever stupid fee then we might as well have kept Walsh on, Loan is acceptable or something like 12 million.
Signing him is worse business then anything Walsh did, mainly because it shows none of the mistakes made last summer registred with anyone, to think we had a decent Jan window under Sam and now may be reverting to another summer of cluelessness

Why r we not raiding relegated stoke i wonder . Wudnt zouma be a cheaper alternative . And younger too ..
I fear that Zouma would fit into the John O'Shea type category. Looks good next to an excellent CB, flounders when given the command at a lesser club. Could've resolved all this last summer by getting Maguire and Mawson, but we don't have a time machine unfortunately.
What about that foreign fella at WBA who had a decent season at CB? Think he was like Algerian or something

I agree that Rojo is a last summer signing but last summer many if not most fans were very optimistic about the business we did. Some really underwhelming at the time signings did great stuff for us down the years (Reid, Weir, Campbell from Turkey, Carsley...).

I wouldn't buy Rojo if it was my money but if we do buy him I will still have a sliver of my soul believing that the merest touch of a blue shirt will turn him into if not Kevin Ratcliffe at least Richard Gough.

It is the hope that kills us.

I refuse to have it that Marcos Rojo is a worse footballer than Ashley Williams, Michael Keane, Yannick Bolasie, Davy Klaassen, or Sandro.

He’d clearly be out best defender if we signed him, no idea why so many are acting like he’s Per Kroldrup.

If he were a horse he'd have at least been put out to pasture years ago, if not much worse. Nobody can be as bad as him!

No he isnt a worse footballer, but then neither was Funes Mori. I like my defenders to actually be able to defend though and in that respect, he's no better than Williams, Jags and Keane.

Utd wont sign Mina without offloading a CB. By buying that CB, it lets Utd take our number one target. How stupid is that.

People have clearly forgotten how bad Keane and Williams are if you think Rojo is as poor as them. The reminder will come undoubtedly and then people will wish we’d signed Rojo.

Sorry not having it, Klaassen is decent but it was just the wrong club for him Everton at the time, Sandro was buttons, as for the other 3 thats Rojo level at best, only right now he is United's problem, just like Bolasie is ours, why should we help them out to shift deadwood.
He clearly wouldnt be our best defender and even if he was that still wouldnt be good enough, we need better not another problem on the books

The problem with the transfer activity last summer was that it wasn't targeted.
The two areas of the pitch that at that time needed reinforcing were left back and centre forward... we didn't sign a player for either spot.

This summer the signings are for specific areas.
Richarlison to replace Bolasie on the left.
Digne to replace Baines at left back.
A centre back to replace Jagielka/Keane and/or Williams. You can argue about the merits of the player but this a different argument. The transfer activity is nothing like last year.

Incidentally, Harry Maguire was often mentioned on here last season as a possible signing before we completed the purchase of Michael Keane. Maguire was variously described as a championship player and as a " donkey" by some on here.
Before I listen to the opinion of any poster on here about the abilities of any potential signing be it Rojo or Minna I would like to know how they described the 65m"donkey" Harry Maguire.

I cannot fathom what on earth people see in either Mawson or Maguire, at least on the defensive side of the ball, to think either would be good additions to a decent PL side. If Man U serious pays 65M for Maguire, Leicester should bite their hand off.
