Am I right in thinking Van Gaal also used him at left back for Utd? No idea if he was better there or at centre back, but I guess I see the sense in signing a left side who can cover both positions. The question is if he'll be solid or not.

Mawson is off to Fulham, Lindelof would be like Rojo (a United reject), Gibson is a Championship level CB, only Lascelles would be a good signing but Toon would want stupid money for him

If you can get Rojo for a half way decent fee i'd go for him. Experience defender with good pace, him and holgate would have plenty of pace to play the high line Silva wants.
