It’s three games in and there’s defeatism and calling for the managers head already. Don’t you think it’s a bit early for that? It’s not the managers fault that Gomes was so dreadful and accountable for both goals....losing the ball for the first and being brushed off way too easily for the second, and it’s not his fault that well-paid professional strikers DCL and Walcott missed pretty simple chances. His error is in playing them, not how they played. However I reckon 99% of us would have started Gomes.
They had a big, strong number nine who was virtually an unknown and who cost peanuts who did the basics very well, and another number nine who was abysmal. They had two chances and scored, we had three, missed two and hit the post with the other. If we had gone in for Wesley in close season the fume in here would have been huge.
Top and bottom of it is that there’s an ingrained losing mentality that infests this Club and which is being too slowly driven aside.
Agreed, but things need to change. We should expect Everton to be Everton, but for once I would like us to at least pretend to challenge the top sides again. We have suffered long enough I sayUtter garbo mate.
That doesnt mean everybody is rubbish and we should sack the manager tho.
And his exquisite donning of the third strip.99% of you would have started Gomes because he has a tan and a beard. I’m more interested in his ability to dominate as an alleged midfielder.
And his exquisite donning of the third strip.
You might be onto something if only...I'm convinced that the best scenario for him is something like what Simeone did with Atletico. Exceptionally tight defense with just enough in attack and a bang in form striker. He just doesn't seem to be someone who is going to put together a fluent, deadly front line.
Newcastle, Fulham and tonight. Three results within this renaissance that stand out and remain big warning signs with Silva.
He can’t win an away game when we’re expected to win.
