I get the impression Neville was talking about on the field as well mate, like we're in a position to challenge the top 6 but we just don't seem willing to take that next step and gamble, and really go for it on the pitch, focusing more on just playing it safe.
You've got to have the squad for that...we've always (seems that way, anyhow) had some part of the squad that would make doing that inadvisable. What I've always hated is we never seem to have a thinking squad, capable of mixing things up on the fly if something's not working. I've seen it on rare occasion, possibly only once or twice...one time it was so noticeable that Leighton mentioned it after the match.
The only "system" I like is a fluid one...I hate rigidity in play style, it's a pet peeve. Then again, you have to be able to afford the players that can do it and have that culture in the club itself to bring up players like that through the ranks. Anyhow, getting off track...money, eh.
