2019/20 Marco Silva

I think the club has needed a Jose type manager for a long time mate. I dont rate Silva but the club has been mentally weak for a long time now - you just knew when we had the chance to go top last night we would crumble same as Fulham last season when we could have gone 7th.

Martinez - Mr Nice / not good enough
Koeman - more bothered about his putting
Alladyce - happy with 17th each season
Silva - Mr Nice / not good enough

Even if we couldn't attract a Jose (I think we could with the money we spend) I would want someone like Biesla - no nonsense workaholic who would shove a rocket up the arse of every player at this club.

We definitely need a rocket buster, something Moyes was good at at times, Kendall was the master of, the problem is most players these days are too soft for the tough love approach, Ross Barkley being a prime example.

Another issue is the level of patience fans have, we’ve seen how quickly our fan base can turn on a manager since the Moyes era ended, Martinez started getting pelters early in his second, Koeman towards the end of his one full season, Allardyce from the get go (for good reason) and Silva only 5 games into last season, would they be as impatient with a fear of god, ball busting manager? I’d hope not but I’d fear it would happen

Unfortunately us this season...

We did. He was called Ronald Koeman. Stern dictator cheque book manager who bought "ready" players.

It's taken us almost 3 seasons to fix that mess and most of his signings still linger

I'm a supporter of our manager but last nights result was very much on him. We appeared to be bereft tactically, mentally, and also short on fitness. If we were playing well but just unlucky in front of goal then you could pardon the manager. We had a poor pre-season and rode our luck to get 4 points from our first two games. We got found out last night and it is worrying.

I don't think the clock is ticking yet for Marco but if we don't start seeing improvement over the next few games then questions do need to be asked of him.

The problem is its much easier for the fanbase/media to turn on a dour "industrial" type football manager like Koeman/Alladyce than it is Martinez/Silva.

Mind you it's getting to the point where I just dont care anymore.

3 games in and its the usual everton - poor management, lacklustre performances and injuries mounting up.

Gets old real fast supporting this club at times.
Good post that and it's so true.

Last night the camera went to Silva, he was straightening his tie, WTF, who cares.

Watching Silva's post match interview discussing a worrying lack of goals, well if you keep choosing to start with the same 3 people who are creating said lack of goals, of course you're not going to get any.

DCL, Sigs and Richie all need dropping as they're not good enough at the moment, the only issue we can only realistically replace 2 of them in Kean & Iwobi

I said this to my mates yesterday. No matter who they bring in, who the manager is, it who we are playing, it's "Everton, that". It's really boring.

I can't remember who said but someone here said "we're just a club who's around to make up the numbers". It really feels that way sometimes.

Last nights result was very much on missed sitters. We played well for the first 20 minutes. If we had scored one or two in that spell then it’s a completely different game. Caution and nerves and errors then came into play. DCL appalling again. Even though we were poor from after 20 minutes, you cannot blame Silva for Iwobi hitting the post and Walcott missing a sitter in the last minute.

Silva should have made changes at HT not persevered with the usual suspects.

Silva's mistakes last night: allowing DCL another start; panicking and throwing on all our forward players for the last 20 minutes.

What he was not responsible for: player's not good enough to take chances, players not good enough for midfield. He doesn't take shots, and he doesn't sell good players and replace them with utter 'kin tat.

He picked those players I've bolded. Even if Iwobi had scored it still does not exuse the poor pre-season, poor performances in the first two games and the shambles that was last night. Villa were very cautious the first 20 minutes and gave us too much respect. As soon as they started to get stuck in, particularly in the midfield area, we fell to pieces both tactically and mentally. For me this is on Marco.
