because blaming refs is a cop out, the refs have made mistakes but are they the reason why we played awful for 3 months

you mentioned a few games

Newcastle- cost us 1 point
arsenal- we were behind anyway
united away- it was 0-0 anyway away at old Trafford no guarantee this cost us anything
spurs- hard to tell with that one we was winning but spurs absolutely bummed us, cannot blame refs for the way we folded like a deck of cards

millwall- again I agree ref cost us, but us not turning up lost us that game, relegation threatened championship team and we mustered 2 shots on target

Analfield cost us a point as well.

we'd be 7th if we turned up between December and march pal, nothing to do with refs

Spot on. If we go back to week 15 i.e the beginning of December, we were 6th on 22 points and Manure 7th and on 22 points and everything was there for the taking. Fast forward 18 games i.e December to March and Manure are 6th on 61 points and we are 10th on 43 points. Sure there have been some poor refs as there always is but there is no way that it can account for that. Fact is that we have been absolutely abysmal for the past 4 months as can clearly be seen by the points difference then and now. There is no getting away from it no matter how good we have been in the last 2 games.

Season has not been anywhere near good enough.

I just hope my worst fear doesn’t come true that Wolves finish above us/win the cup. They have been known to drop some of the easier results, so there is still every chance for us if we continue this form.

Hopefully we take one of Manchester/Arsenal and take care of the rest.

It's not a cop out. Referees aren't to blame for us not winning the league this season, us not being good enough in so many games is the reason.

There are five games there that I have mentioned where those mistakes not happening may have completely changed the outcome of those games. They don't happen and we could be comfortably in 7th.

Every team has refereeing decisions work against them (apart from the RS) but ours have been excessive this year. Key times in big games against mostly the top 6. It's not a coincidence.

The thing is, unless you know how many refereeing decisions have gone against Wolves, Watford, and even Leicester that may have cost them points, then it's hard too say we could be comfortably 7th.

Fully agree, the teams around us will have made costly mistakes and had bad decisions go against them.

If we did this and hadn’t done that mean nothing, it’s just excuses.

Weirdly enough I dont mind Brighton or Watford winning the FA Cup as hopefully it just pushes Moshiri to throw more money at us seeing a non top 6 club winning silverware.

Wolves winning it/qualifying for Europe feels alot more of a threat to us long term as being another club outside the top 6 who can push on and compete whereas the former two havent the financial backing to realistically push on.

Money doesnt win you FA Cups mert.

And Brighton or Watford winning it would prove that.

Why would this be your worst fear? Wolves have been great this season, good to watch and it's good to see a none fashionable club do well.
It's not their fault were all over the place.

I never said I had a problem with Wolves? The last thing I want is the trendy club finishing the season above us. Gives us more competition for signing players which we do not need. Nothing against them personally

The way Wolves play reminds me very much of us the first season under Koeman.

The acid test for them, will be hanging onto some of their players in the Summer.

Interesting that the top 7 highest goal scorers outside the top 6 clubs are at the following clubs:

1x Leicester (Vardy)
1x Wolves (Jimenez)
2x Everton (Richarlison & Siggurdsson)
2x Bournemouth (Wilson & King)
1x Brighton (Murray)

Dispells the myth somewhat that the only thing holding Silva back is a goalscorer when both Wolves and Leicester are ahead with less goalscorers in the side and Watford who dont even make the list. Also shows that Silva and Howe are very much in the Martinez style of scoring goals but let down defensively.

Whilst its clear we need a proper CF this summer I think its clear to see its not goals but our defending and Silva's inability for 4 months to have us playing with any sort of fluidity/confidence that is the reason for our poor season and current 10th place position in the table.

Watford will beat wolves I reckon, wolves are weird, like they struggle breaking teams down but they are amazingly organised against the "big teams" but they just never create much, even all the games they have won against the "big" teams they've hardly created much

they wont be a threat next season, heard it here first
