Interesting that the top 7 highest goal scorers outside the top 6 clubs are at the following clubs:

1x Leicester (Vardy)
1x Wolves (Jimenez)
2x Everton (Richarlison & Siggurdsson)
2x Bournemouth (Wilson & King)
1x Brighton (Murray)

Dispells the myth somewhat that the only thing holding Silva back is a goalscorer when both Wolves and Leicester are ahead with less goalscorers in the side and Watford who dont even make the list. Also shows that Silva and Howe are very much in the Martinez style of scoring goals but let down defensively.

Whilst its clear we need a proper CF this summer I think its clear to see its not goals but our defending and Silva's inability for 4 months to have us playing with any sort of fluidity/confidence that is the reason for our poor season and current 10th place position in the table.

Its weird, cos we have the same goals conceded as united, better than everyone outside the top 5, (iirc), other than Wolves.

But United have scored sommet like 20 more than us.

Watford will beat wolves I reckon, wolves are weird, like they struggle breaking teams down but they are amazingly organised against the "big teams" but they just never create much, even all the games they have won against the "big" teams they've hardly created much

they wont be a threat next season, heard it here first

There was a little bit on Wolves on Monday’s Guardian podcast and it listen a load of crap teams they’ve played, will check later, and only picked up 1 point vs them all. Said if they’d won them, which they’re expected too, would be right in the top 6 this season.

Couldn't you say the same about us?

You do realise that the 2 Everton players you mentioned arent Strikers?

We have the 4th most clean sheets in the whole league as well.

Aye however goals are goals. If Richarlison and Siggurdsson were defenders it doesnt change the fact that they have both scored 24 goals between them.

The whole myth of Silva just needs a goal scorer is just that a myth. Yes having a CF who has good movement/can hold the ball up helps the side however their goals earn us no more points than goals scored by anyone else on the pitch. Watford have no goal scorer in that list I mentioned yet are above us in the table and in a cup Semi Final and thats down to performances on the pitch.

Ive banged the drum since Anfield that for me Silva's main issues are a lack of in game management and an inability to mentality get the lads up for games - recent recent results have shown that their is ability in our squad.

We deffo need a CF in the summer but I think that is only one solution of a few problems that Silva needs to address next season, time will tell if he can sort the others out.

Bernard and Richarlison on either wing has given us more balance which is a positive as of late I hope we persist with it.

And ive always maintained that its not players he needs, its just time to mould the squad how he wants it.

I added to my post you responded to that I think Bernard and Richarlison have given us alot more balance to the side which I think has helped him. Hopefully with Gomes more adjusted to the PL and a few signings we can push on.

If he nails the mental side of coaching and has them up for it every half of every game we can go far - thats the big test for me next season the consistency.

Im very impressed that the players appear to still be working hard for him, it would be very easy for them to go on holiday since we havent really had anything to play for since January. I still have doubts regarding him, but the last few results, coupled with the fine performances we had before December have given me hope for the future. If nothing else we give him and Brands another window and take a look again mid season.

Consistency is without doubt our biggest failing.

Thought this too. They all seem to like him.
