Give him time to do something that he has never been capable of doing in this league and has already shown us in the last 30 games that he is still not capable of doing. Can only end in tears i think. He has got 8 games left and needs to get 12 points just to equal last seasons poor performance. That means he has to win at least half of the remaining games which is going to be a bit of a struggle considering that half of the remaining games are against the top 6 sides and we cannot even beat relegation fodder.

So yeah he has got till the end of the season but it is odds on that his first season in charge is going to end up worse than the previous which lets be honest is absolutely appalling and he will have to go if or when that happens.

His only chance of being given more time after this season is to win most if not all of these last 8 games which i think we would probably get about 500/1 odds on given how poor we are against even the poorest teams.

Wont be long now.

I expect it because BFS got 8th with a worse squad and I expect slight improvement not regression (results).

Was just looking back at this post.

"So in my humble opinion, no area of the squad was weakened, we improved our LBs, our CBs and our Widers, we lost nobody in the window we wished to retain and we gave ourselves a squad able to compete. All in all a very pleasing window for me, improvements made, trash taken out and a vast improvement on windows previously. "

That was the reason I expected 7th, I felt the squad was good enough to grab that position, not cos Sam got 8th really.

I did say in other threads elsewhere that I was impressed with Wolves, West Ham and *cough* Fulhams business, 1 out 3 aint bad right.

I mean I expected 7th, but it wasnt a target he had to reach or I wanted him sacked, im still 50/50 personally on that score.

Of course 11th isnt what I expected.

We don’t loss any starter and be able to add 6 players (2 loans). I actually think the team was strengthened last summer. I don’t expect instant success but I expected the team to finish above Wolves and West Ham.

I hadn’t even thought of it until you posted it. But it’s got that feel hasn’t it?
Crap start to next season. Marco booted by half term and some crapper coming in to try and sort it.

Rinse and repeat.
This is why I can't get on board with the "give him next season" group.

I'd much rather make the decision now based on what we have seen and have managers be available than risk leaving it too late and getting forced into a short term appointment while we wait for better options.

Nope, sorry but I'm not having him escaping any responsibility for this season for whoever was here before him.

Sod that.

He spent money and got some of his own players in.

We have seen no return on that investment and no progress.

If we could achieve what we did last year before that investment and not improve on that after spending money and bringing in half a starting 11 then that's all that needs to be said.

Just like Allardyce and Koeman a second year has to be earned based on the performance in the first and on that basis it's a taxi for Marco.

The minimum expectation has to be improvement on the year before. Anything else is us regressing closer and closer to doing a Villa.

I expected eighth tbh, despite all the early season hype.

I hate to write off managers but we’ve had so many lows I don’t know how he survives ,I know it’s his first season but he needed a strong one as his previous two jobs haven’t screamed he’s a genius! Horrendous defeats against teams we ought to be beating and I’m really “meh” if he gets sacked ,just want an Everton side that’s at the very least hard to beat and we’re at times pathetic
