Mourinho insisted Man Utd will finish above Everton in 6th place (from the Independent).

Well this is cocky.

Stick the newspaper on the wall of the dressing room please MS. Prove him wrong.

He’s under the skin of the top managers because he just won’t play ball at all with any of them. He’s not rising to anything, he’s just ruthlessly assembling a team that they all know can trouble the top 6. Some of them are years into their jobs and Silva is already closing in on their teams even after a stuttering start. He’s shown he can recruit well, he can convince top players to play for him, he’s not bound to the sentiment of usual Everton managers, he won’t ply the plucky little Everton card to gain media approval like his predecessors. We’re the coming force threatenknf the top 6 and they all know it.

I was very very doubtful about his appointment.

After just a few months with him in charge I think the biggest challenge we will face in the coming seasons will be keeping him at the club as the European super clubs circle.

He still has a bit to go with the team and the club but so far he has been seriously impressive.
He has managed to build a solid team while at the same time bringing an attacking flair to the club.

I would guess that Lookman may no longer be tempted by Leipzig as he forces his way into this managers plans. We should remember he also spent a lot of time on the bench at Leipzig.

Isn't that three of the "top 6" managers who've named dropped us in the past week or so in I terviews, klopps was understandable as we played then etc, both mourinho and Emery have done it now recently, from memory think energy was very complimentary about us.

One could suggest it's talking up a team in case they finish above you and it looks not quite as bad...

Under allardyce we were never this exposed at the back.

Hence the lack of clean sheets under Silva.
I'm pretty sure even Rotherham scored past us.

The diff between the defence now and the first set of games is day and night.

No one has kept Chelsea scoreless at home, and only once away.
Only Man City has kept Liverpool scoreless this season.
What's most impressive is how Silva was able to tweak the strategy from the Chelsea to Liverpool match
yet for Pickford's mistake with the same result.
To turn the defence round in such a short time and get these types of performances speaks volumes.

The Allardyce comparison is just laughable.

Our defence is tightening up a lot, remember when people said he couldn’t organise a defence? We were one fluked freak goal away from three clean sheets on the spin including Chelsea and Liverpool away.

I doubt any of the circus around that derby game will bother him. He’s not arsed one bit about the big red media machine, he’s on an absolute mission and he’s made huge strides so far. No one’s getting in his way he’s an absolute machine. Can’t wait for his next sarky press conference and absolute nonchalance when another win is racked up and another week in the top 6 ensues. We’ll win trophies and be top 4 and he still won’t even act surprised by it. It’s early days but he’s laying claim to being the best Everton manager since Moyes.

Its fabulous to see the improvements made under Silva (and brands)...were on the cusp of something great here and over the next two windows we have a great opportinity to strengthen and bridge the gap further.

Wont be long before were sitting pretty amongst the top 4.

If his team got exposed less then it's down to how we set up far more defensively (yet we still conceded more goals than we are now). Don't even think it's right to say other teams "exposed" us while we had Allardyce, we exposed ourselves as absolute turd with the performances we were putting out

Looking a little more vulnerable on the counter is a byproduct of being a more attacking team. But we're conceding less, scoring more and playing far superior football that's better in every department.

For me I don't think there was any doubt that people wouldn't go along with his 'philosophy', Martinez was the same. The true defining measure of a manager is how he adapts and his level of man-management, extending to recruitment. Pep is a good example of a top manager who, whilst he's had millions to spend on world class players, has still managed them to be as good as City are these days.

Early signs are good from Silva, but then they were from Martinez & even Koeman. Hopefully, hopefully, third times a charm.

Sounded like he sent a warning shot to a bit of a mole at the club today when talking about Lookman.:

“100%, he’s pushing really hard.

“Maybe he already deserved a place in the starting XI, but it’s football and I’m here to make decisions.

“I can tell you, because the game has already passed, he had a different week last week. He worked with our team just on Saturday, he had a small issue on Tuesday before the Liverpool game.

“It was good for me that nobody talked about this situation, it was a good signal to me!”
