Do you genuinely think he can right the wrongs of 5 years of poor signings in one summer?

We've signed some decent players these last 5 years, even if limiting it to players who are still here:

Pickford
Walcott
Tosun
Gana
Niasse
Holgate

It's normal for some signings to be good (like the above), and some bad (like Bolasie, Sig etc).

That's not the problem. The problem is out there on the pitch. That's what Silva has to fix, and he doesn't need 5 or 6 new players necessarily, he needs to earn his money and show us what he can do with what he's got.

We're in no relegation trouble. We're just likely to have a dull mid table run.

Lose your fear Mikey. It's this sort of negativity and lack of bravery and ambition that has held the club back for years. I'd rather have a man insist on playing on the front foot and get rid of all those holding him back along the way, than pander to a squad who can only look good parking a bus and who have seen off 4 managers in 3 years.
As long as we stay up then he just needs a few transfer windows to get rid of the dross and buy to his style. This time we should stick with the manager and bin the bad attitudes or not good enoughs. He has inherited a complete shambles. There are probably about seven players in the entire squad who dont need shifting straight away. I expect nothing more than a change of style for a season at least.

Got to be patient and give the man time to rebuild. He has got a massive job on his hands and has only been working with the players for a few weeks and apart from new signing Richarlison (who looks great), he has the same players as last season who 3 Managers couldn't get a decent performance out of. He said himself just before Richarlison signed that he needs at least 6 signings before this window closes and wants to eventually get the squad down to about 25 (i.e get rid of a lot of dead wood) so he is well aware of the shortcomings of the players he is working with. Still 2 weeks left till the window closes and even though it isn't much, a lot can happen in the latter parts of the transfer window.

He isn't going to transform Everton in just a few months, it is going to take more than 1 season and a few transfer windows and i very much doubt we will need to worry about relegation again as we were diabolical last season and still finished in the top 10. There are worse teams than us in the league.

I am behind him for at least a full season and see how it goes from there.

What if we keep losing games though?

At some point he's going to have to put the plan on hold to stop the bleeding

Yeah, he deserves time, but not an infinite amount. He's going to need to prioritise results over the vision a little bit in season one[/QUOTE
Bang on , we are all aware of the forest of dead wood he has to chop and this will take time. He needs to adopt a system that makes us hard to beat and competitive until the forest gets felled.

Bad signs from this guy already, lets face it no one actually wanted him here, apart from our owner who brought him in on a whim. GIve it 3 games before questions are asked about his inability to grind out results, maybe another 5 after that before action is taken.
Everyone wanted him here in November. No wanted him here six months later. People need to stop spunking in there pants. Unless we are in relegation trouble he needs to stay for a season else we are a laughing stock and unable to get any manager.

I didn’t, you might not , but look at the thread from that time of year and a lot of people were over the top about him.

a few smitten lovers don't equate to being everyone.

the love for Marco is more the need of some blues to have someone attractive in charge. I can understand that after the boot-in-pudding boats of Ron & Sam.

Changing manager is not the answer. It’s what this group of spineless coward players want. If they get even a sniff of chance that Moshiri might fire him they’ll make it so. We need to be sending out a message to the players hat they will be the ones being punted before Silva if performances stay as they have been the last few seasons.

Posted yesterday that result may turn out to be a good one in that it must have been huge wake up call if he didn’t already need one. If he gets us more compact and hard to play against when we play Seville I think we will be fine until we get a new defence and others in, but if he continues to play 4 up with attacking fullbacks next week I will start to get very axciuos.

There's no way we can apportion any blame for results whilst he's only got this group to work with, they aren't up to it, Silva is the least of our worries, we need a new squad near enough.

Our defence struggled to keep clean sheets under Allardyce, we conceded 3 against a West Ham team who were on holiday FFS. No matter how defensive we were to play, there's no way we could keep clean sheets with the defence we have now. From what Coleman said, he's trying to play a compact team, but the players just can't do it. They've got no pace and hence no ability to recover if the ball goes beyond them. Jagielka used to be able to, but time had long since caught up with him.
