Fair enough he's proved me wrong the run of bad results could have seen many sacked but since the break he has turn it around. He had a lot to sort in fairness to him when he came in a bloated squad and no identity as well as holes in the team. The break allowed him to coach and organise the team, when he got everyone in the right place since then confidence has shot up as have performances. So hands up, glad to have been proven wrong he needs to be given the time.
Good for you mate, too many people are unable to deviate once they have formed a view. In many respects I don't blame people because things were poor, nevertheless, for a manager in the first season, people seemed keen to drive him out before he'd had any time.

Im gonna whisper this and im also never going to repeat it, but all the criticism Silva received was probably fair.

I mean we got knocked out of 1 cup by the worst Saints side in a few years, AT HOME, we got knocked out the FA Cup by a team that sits 15th in the championship, we went 5 games without winning a game, we had 2 wins in 10 games at 1 point, we conceded from almost set piece. At 1 point the only reason I could give for not wanting him sacked was for stabilities sake.

So yeah, lets be honest it wasnt looking good.

What I did say was we should give him the full season, of course everybody has been swayed by our last 3 results, they were very good, I know people have tried to play down the Chelsea result as they arent a very good side, same for Arsenal, but they are both very good sides and their defeats to us are the only 1s in their last 5 games. Very good results, plus we went to an away side and claimed a very good win there. Also the first half from Chelsea aside we have won all 3 games in style, sure we have missed a hatful of chances, but still.

Of course the above cup results, the Newcastle results, getting schooled by West Ham at home, Spurs and of course losing to the vermin with the last kick of the game are all very bad results, but for me, the last few results have shown that on our day we can compete with most sides in the league. Only really Spurs have blown us away this season, City won both games at a bit of a canter also, but we played well against the vermin, played well and beat Chelsea and Arse.

What im saying is there has been both good and bad this season, so what we do is we take the good and hope next season brings us less bad.

thank you mate

I don't think the jump to the top 6 is as big as people make out. It's about 4 games. Chelsea will be in rebuild with no chance of signing players.
I agree in theory, but the fact is one of the teams is always in turmoil and yet in the last 5 seasons the closest we've got to the top 6 is 8 points away. That suggests it is a fairly big jump, whether we like to admit it or not. It's not impossible to do it of course, but it's not particularly likely either.

Marco Silva has confirmed Everton will only spend "big" on young players this summer but insists the club remain open to adding experienced names too.

Silva has backed up Marcel Brands' revelation that the Blues plan to make any significant investment in targets aged 20-25/26 this summer as another squad revamp is planned.

But the Everton manager insists the club will not rule out signing players older than that even though the "model" is to pursue younger targets.

In January, majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri conceded Everton may have to pay hefty transfer feesto land some of Europe's emerging talent but said they would command lesser wages than players with more experience.

The latest set of club accounts revealed the Blues' wage bill had risen to £145m and Brands is tasked with reducing that further as he prepares to enter his second year at Goodison.

Everton signed players with an average age of less than 24 last summer and though repeat business is being lined up, Silva says he and Brands will always remain open to recruiting players outside of the preferred age range.

"You can prepare a model and have an idea," Silva told the ECHO.

"To spend an big, big, big amount it is better to spend like we spent on Richarlison, on Mina, on Lucas. The players you can see who have five or six years to play at our club or you make some profit, whatever can happen.

"But sometimes it is not that easy to be black and white. There is that grey in the middle and at some moments in a season and in the market, you have to do something different.

"It is not something that is always black and white, sometimes it has to be grey, but as a business you have to think in this way and try and find these type of solutions but in some moments you can change a little bit because it is football.

"Sometimes we will have a target, aged 24, but you cannot get him so you have to change a little bit.

"But when Marcel spoke, he spoke about our general idea, for sure."

Everton are expected to make several senior players for sale this summer with Kevin Mirallas, Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse among those likely to leave.

Ashley Williams, 34, is out of contract and will be released while Goodison veterans Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines are also coming to the end of their deals with decisions on their futures not expected until the end of the season.

But Silva insists adding a player in his 30s is not out of the question.

"What me and Marcel, and what we want, is to improve, within our possibilities as a club," he said.

"We did that last summer and it is our obligation to do this summer also.

"We have to look at all of the aspects: age, their quality, how they are as a professional, the wages - everything is a package and after that we have to take the best decision for us as a club."

I dunno about that, i can see all 4 of the sides outside the top 2 pressing on next season, besides dont forgot, its not just the top 6 we have to worry about, but the league sides as well who are also trying, Leicester for one i can see being much better next season
