We’ve literally got 5 CB’s and Tosun as our back up striker.... superb work “Don”.

Most premier league squads have 5 CBs....
Bit flabbergasted as to why we bought a 4th choice CB for £20m+ though. Especially considering the lack of depth in the forward line.
I've tried to defend Brands for a long time, but he honestly does not justify a new contract.
Maybe Godfrey is the club's long term target and it was a "get it whilst you can" deal with the intention to sell Keane/Mina next Summer.
We always talk about "oh can't believe we didn't go in for VVD when he was at Celtic" so maybe this is one of those deals we did go in for.
yeah I don’t get why people are picking at the Godfrey deal.
We needed another defender - we were down to two CBs for the first seven games of the season (ironically we won them all like).
it’s not the deals Brands has done (mostly) that are the issue - most of them decent/promising players.
it’s the fact that in every window for the last two years we’ve been left short in a few areas and it’s so frustrating as it really just limits our chances of being sustainably successful in the future (however you define that success)
That’s true - and he’s had his hands tied to a certain extentWe don't know enough info IMO to just blame Brands for being left short. We don't know budgets, we don't know if Carlo is happy with the players he has etc.
Our Summer spending totals have been pretty high all through Moshiri's tenure but it's pertinent to note Brands so far has spent less than Walsh did in one season (2017/18). Maybe the budget has been curtailed lately?

I told you all at the start.
You will turn on him.

However, he left us short of a defender and midfielder last season. An attacker and RB (arguably - though do think we would have looked to get one in If Kenny had gone) this year.
There are a lot of players in the squad who all play in a very similar way, and not really much variety outside of the first XI.
I think he seems a pretty good negotiator and I trust him to get deals done at prices we deem fair. But, he’s definitely made mistakes and his approach has cost us.
He’s not done anything particularly awful but I’m not sure if that’s enough to give him a new deal and keep him on... the only reason (and it could be a valid one) to do that atm really would be if we’re gonna continue with a DoF we’re probably better the one we know.
but this season presented a lot more risk - and a lot more opportunity - and we’re going to have to make a move in the January window. It could have been avoided with a bit of imagination/more intent, I’m pretty sure
I've enjoyed it, not going to lie
They hyped him up at the start, they did the same with Steve Walsh.
