Tough job for Brands to get rid of the deadwood for decent money. The wages are the biggest problem and I can see most of the deadwood leaving only when there contracts are about to expire...........for very little money. Mirallas, McCarthy, Schnides I think will go for very little money or even go as free agents. The error was high wages initially which scares off potential buyers and the players won't agree to a transfer unless they are on thereabout wages. We are stuck with some of them. Williams contract expires so that will be one off the books. Niasse and Tosun will also be difficult to shift and we will have to take a big hit on them.

They definitely wont go as free agents especially Scnhederlin as we still hold a significant liability on him. If there is no suitors for Mirallas or JimmyMc, both will be loaned out for fees and reduction of wages, they will essentially be frees the following summer, so wont be back at Everton and would be frees for their loan clubs. In a way that makes both very marketable so ive little concern on either being squad blockers.

Have to say a fit McCarthy has a lot to offer in my opinion but it seems hes not in favor here, a huge shame.

Think it looks like we dont want to play him in case teams see how bad hes become due to injuries.

Maybe. He has only a year left on the contract. He’s gone for little regardless. Clearly Marco doesn’t rate Schneiderlin or McCarthy as this side has been crying out for a pnother decent defensive mid all season.

It crossed my mind how well he has recovered, its a similar injury to Seamus and its taken him this long to get back to his normal standard. Its a strange one, as i think that Jimmy would fit the pressing game very very well, it makes me think his recovery is ongoing.

I think you may be right. I think there may be some issue with his recovery.
Mick McCarthy recently included James McCarthy in the extended Irish panel and then left him out of the extremely limited final panel.
James McCarthy is the type of player that the Irish team so badly needs(ie. playing with a team at a high level) and yet he didn't deem him ready or fit to bring along with a view to integrating him into the team as quickly as possible.

Unfulfilled stadium dreams, squad full of dross that's hard to shift, sell to buy.

Not difficult to join the dots.

This thread is for Brands so how can you point at him in relation to the items you mention. It is Dave just you on your hobby horse again!

Think Dave if Moshiri had not come in and we were still in the BK time where would the club be now?

We’d be exactly where we are now. No higher, no lower.

No doubt in my mind. The fans would also have lower (and more realistic) expectations of the future.

As always, its the hope that kills you.

Banno is correct on removing the deadwood as you agree, we are stuck with them which is what I have maintained in the past and tried to point this out to DaveK.. I dread to think of all the deadwood out on loan and still on our books. For me with Brans and Silva we have at last a team who for me can plan forward and avoid the rubbish signings by the previous managers back to when Moyes left.

Could be but for me also he is now too old to fit in with the plans Brans and Silva have.

Cannot agree with you there, we would still be stuck in a dilapidated, small capacity stadium no prospects of getting out, would be unable to attract decent players but load ourselves with more deadwood we are trying to shift because that would be all we could afford and quite likely would have been more in with relegation battles. Would you still have liked Koeman or BFS as manager because we would certainly not have Silva or anyone like that.

I have been a fan since childhood back in the early 60s, I have always had faith and still do, there is no doubt that the future looks better than before Moshiri came in.

He's waiting on the return of Besic!
