You wouldn't say there's a cult being built around Brands?

I think if you're honest you'd concede there is.

That's maddeneing for me. He's been hit and miss at best so far.

He's a quiet operator and brings in Digne, and I'm supposed to be worshipping a miracle man at work? A mystic in our midst?

No.

I repeat Dave, he is only doing the job that he is paid for.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Have you thought about writing to the club, I`m sure they`d be keen to take your views on board ???

....I don’t see an issue in investing and selling on at a profit. It’s not saying the club want to sell its best talent, but a club in our position will inevitably be approached to sell and the players involved will be keen to move. It’s happened with Stones, it’s happened with Lukaku and it’s happened with Barkley.

It’s the way things are. If the value of players we sign increases, then it’s an indication they have been successful signings. It hopefully means the club are progressing.

The aspiration is to keep our best players, but the reality is that isn’t the situation we are in.
It’s a catch 22 situation. Be ‘successful’ and bigger clubs will be alerted to our better players. If we aren’t successful, are supposedly better players aren’t as good as we think. Really think Brands focus has to be on getting the likes of McCarthy, Schnerderlin, Niasse, Miralles et al out of the club and using his extensive knowledge replacing them with younger players with potential. I do not expect a vast outlay on players this summer, unless we reduce the squad size considerably.

Tough job for Brands to get rid of the deadwood for decent money. The wages are the biggest problem and I can see most of the deadwood leaving only when there contracts are about to expire...........for very little money. Mirallas, McCarthy, Schnides I think will go for very little money or even go as free agents. The error was high wages initially which scares off potential buyers and the players won't agree to a transfer unless they are on thereabout wages. We are stuck with some of them. Williams contract expires so that will be one off the books. Niasse and Tosun will also be difficult to shift and we will have to take a big hit on them.
