Manchester United

Some wonderful stuff in here...

I think there's more than a fair chance that the majority of citizens have far more in common with an immigrant, than they do someone like Jim Ratcliffe.

You have to bear in mind, that our far right friend on here, believes that humans and dinosaurs co existed, which kind of puts things into perspective.

Serious question... who ends up with the money taken from my gross pay. Not being facetious I honestly don't know.
Essentially, the Bank of England. It's used to destroy the funds created by the bank to fund the government's budget. Practically, it's just numbers on an accounting ledger as the BOE creates the funds from nothing.

Little known fact about the way the economy works: commercial banks create money from nothing. 80% of the money in the economy is magicked into existence by commercial banks. If you get a mortgage or loan from, say, Lloyds, the money the bank gives you doesn't exist before they magic it into existence. It's shown as a credit on the bank's ledger and that money is destroyed by the repayment of the mortgage. The bank's profit is then realised on the interest. As banks are creating money that didn't exist before and are charging interest on the loans, then the amount of money required to repay is more than the amount they wished into existence. The result, of course, is that there needs to be more money magicked into existence from elsewhere to repay the debt + interest. So, the entirety of the world's economy, built on this system, is essentially one of ever increasing money creation through bank debt.

Depressing, eh?

Bloody hell. It really is. I never thought about it before. Thank you for your reply. Really appreciate it.

I feel better about not paying my debts now. I'm practically saving the world 💪

There's an op ed I got sent this morning you may find interesting (and unlike me may understand fully)

He has paid millions in taxes to the UK government and he is perfectly able to criticize the UK government in how they have dealt with his tax money by funding social benefits to immigrants.

Sure he's fled to Monaco but if the government is imposing crazy high tax rates on hard working people so they can compensate an illegal migrant's hotel stay, who wouldn't do the same?
Oh look, one of the most pathetic posters on GOT is back again. Surprisingly (not), being as pathetic as ever.

Hard working people pay income tax and income tax rates haven't changed for an eternity. Cockwomble!

Interesting stuff.

Which makes me reluctant to suggest this thread should be about Man Utd.
