It's appalling, especially as there will undoubtedly be parents watching BBC news who are unable to contact their children/family and they'll be watching some moronic anchor trying to get some poor guy who's just witnessed an explosion to speculate on its cause.

This could have been any kind of explosion, there's nothing to say it is a deliberate attack, so for him to start going on about security - and therefore insinuating it is deliberate - is shameful.
Journo on sky outside passing mobile phone to kids to speak live on tv now.
Classless.
They are just wanting someone to say it was terrorism.

Watching Fox News coverage just to see what its like and am quite amazed in a good way... they are purposely playing down terrorism.

That Shepard Smith is actually alright, seems far too reasonable to be on FOX.

As if the poor buggers haven't been through enough, they now get to be interrogated on live TV. 24 hour news has a lot to answer for.

This is much better than mindless speculation, however. Only question I don't approve of is how they felt, which isn't right given the immediacy of what has just happened.

It's disgusting. Imagine being at home having to rely on this for information to know if one of your family are alright.

It should really be banned.

I don't know if you have seen it, but a few years ago Charlie Brooker did a fantastic programme about 24 hour news where he basically proved all it comprised of was the media encouraging the viewer to just look at absolutely horrific things happening to other people, and then to continue looking in case something exciting happened.

I know, but putting a child on live TV who has just witnessed an explosion is just begging for speculation. I'd expect this kind of thing from Sky, but the BBC really should hold themselves up to higher standards than that.

They asked her if she thought it was terrorism. How is that a good question to ask a young girl who has just been involved in the situation?

It's an explosion at the end of a gig.
The likelihood is a pyro malfunction, but in this day in age you immediately assume terrorism.
And Christ, Manchester has had terrorism before.

Thoughts with all involved.
