I like Twitter. It can be so much fun. However, it gives a voice to the voiceless sometimes which is a terrible idea.
Yeah I like Twitter as well but like all sources of information it needs to be treated carefully and used with common sense. Saw so much horrible stuff on there last night .

society/authorities etc really have no idea on how to deal with social media

Difficult though isn't it. Over-regulation and it's no longer social media, it's a heavily moderated chat forum with some adverts.

One alternative (not one I'd advocate) would be to remove or 'open' the DM features.

I done my dissertation at Uni on social media and citizen journalism. It's a powerful tool which is essential in a democratic society (Arab Spring being the biggest example of what good can come from it). However, it pains me to see Tommy Robinson and the rest of those EDL Islamophobics tormenting and bullying innocent people.

We go over the same ground every time there is another terrorist attack in this country. Prime Minister (bitch) will come out and call it appalling sickening cowardly etc etc but untill we stop bowing to the PC brigade and fearing being branded racist (Rochdale and Rotherham springs to mind) then it will continue to happen.Sadly its becoming more frequent now.

how does this manifest itself? what do we/can we not do for fear of being branded racist?

There are no answers really so it will continue to happen.Sadly I fear world war one day again with factions of the Muslim race being as bad as the Nazi's, only on a more widespread scale.

Bowing to the PC brigade you say? Not bowing to them, what does that involve doing? Blaming anyone who is Muslim? Throw them out the country? Accusing people because of their colour or religion is actually racist.

The only way to beat this from happening again, is intelligence. I know of someone in the Counter Terrorism unit in London. Do you know how hard they work, endlessly. After the Westminster Bridge incident they were on shift without break for nearly 3 days, London to Birmingham and back. Its down to everyone to help. But branding people as guilty due to a belief is wrong.

I would put a massive amount of money that this is just some little a-hole who decided he didn't like whatever, planned everything then left a voicemail saying he's 'totes ISIS' despite them literally never hearing of him before.

Thoughts and prayers with the families, screw that, Manchester. Terrible situation. Cannot imagine what it was like for the people inside essentially being trampled. Terrifying..
