Managers within our reach

Completely agree. Changing now would achieve nothing unless the new manager could turn things round with the players at his disposal, which I would doubt even the best managers could do. We knew that there would be a long way to rebuild the squad, so why change things yet again?
18 months he should get in the job. IMO it was a major discredit to him not to get him a target in January. He has to have at least two windows to get his players in and his ideas implemented.

Appointing Benitez would be akin to the appointment of Allardyce.

The normal sensible majority would never want him in the first place, leaving the minority of the tinfoil hat brigade who would support the appointment.

Benitez is obviously a much better manager than Allardyce, but shares similar character traits :

Nothing is ever his fault.

He is always right.

He’s one of the best managers in the world and which ever club he’s at should be grateful that he’s there.

It would be a disaster appointing him.

It’ll never happen in a million years.
It would be far from a disaster

The sensible majority would want someone who is good at and experienced at organisinhg a defence. Can organise a team. Experienced at big occasions and not afraid of other teams..has a history of winning major trophies.

A manager 9th in the table and you;re asking for him to be sacked...sorry, who's looking daft?

Of course not Dave...he's doing brilliantly by making the same arse-up's here - with a budget - that he's made at his other two prem clubs.

When does that become worrying mate? 12th, 13th...a 6-0 loss to city. When?

and who is left field enough for you?
Marcus Rose?
I’d like us to go for someone left field like Southampton did with Hassenhutl (sp). Not that he was left field for anyone who knew football but hey, there’s plenty out there with a CV that isn’t relegated with Hull and nosedived Watford.

I'm hoping that is sensible business and not panic buying, as has happened over the last few January windows. Let's see what the summer brings.

It's his own fault go for refusing to allow the sale of an aging player in a problem area for the squad.

His results didn't deserve money. Especially the January premiums which would have been needed.

Football was very different back then though, i understand what you are getting at but that is a massive risk imo and can we afford to take anymore risks? Also Arteta has never shown any indication of wanting to be a manager he always says he is happy as a number 2.
No we keep on appointing big salary men - Joe Royle signed us before terms were discussed he wanted to do the job as a honour as he was a true blue ....

On their day, city can do that to anyone. Why is it unacceptable when we're 9th but if we were 7th and lost 6-0 to them, nobody would be calling for his head?

The first thing Benitez does is take on the hierarchy at whichever club he’s at and thereby position himself at the top of the “ power pyramid “ within the club - he did it at Liverpool and he’s tried to do it at Newcastle. He met his nemesis in Ashley at Newcastle.

He’s a very unpleasant human being, with potential to do great and lasting damage at a club like Everton.

He would also split the fan base worse than anything we saw with Allardyce.

If we are talking potential new managers, and we seem to be, then I think Moshiri/Brands could do a lot worse than put a call into Pep, and ask him a simple question.

Outside the elite, (we aint shopping there are we?), which manager has impressed you most in your time in England?

I think his response might surprise a few, well, everyone. But HE may well be worth looking at.
