Managerial severance packages.

He would have already been gone at any club with genuine ambitions, irrespective of the severence package. He failed last year and he's failing this year.

What we infer from that is that we don't really have any ambition beyond staying in the league and Silva is just fine for that purpose.

Nothing compared to the cost of getting relegated, or even finishing 15th let’s say, bring in a manger who and we improve and let’s say we finish 8th, the difference in prize money from the league would cover the payout.

We've wasted enough money on dreadful players and managers over the last few years. Why not be done with him for the cost of a couple of dud signings. If the board want to send a message to the fans, they should be lining up a top class replacement manager with the draft e-mail job offer already composed and their fingers hovering over the "send" button....

Remember Walker was jibbed despite (just) beating West Ham and drawing away with Norwich. Then Royle came in and the club were truly revived.

The atmosphere will be poisonous tomorrow, especially if West Ham take an early lead.

Time for this cowardly board to make a bold and decisive decision.

In the scheme of things, are they really huge? See, if it’s about £6m, and we’re still paying Koeman and Allardyce, if we sack Silva that’s still only £18m.

We paid £35m for Gbamin for example.

Can we afford not to sack Silva?
If they Haven't sussed out, after the last 3 stooges, how to word a contract, then we deserved to be stiffed.
Fool me once, etc.

Silva was not working when he joined Everton and was highly unlikely to be given a chance at any other club as big as Everton.
After the huge sums that were involved in getting rid of Martinez,Koeman and Allyrdyce I would hope that the contract to hire an out of work manager would not include such onerous clauses in the event of his dismissal.

The time for that was a week last Sunday.

A few years back we had a teacher who year in year out got rubbish exam results with the kids. She also lost the classroom after a poor run of decisions.

The £6m she got when she was eventually sacked for being useless made the rest of us wonder why we even bothered.

Martinez cost £11.3m to sack. We will have to wait until the next set of accounts are published to be sure how much Koeman and Allardyce cost.
