The thing about it is, a player is only as good as the other players in the team, i mean its fair to say Elano and Petrov are good players but i beleive they would be better players in our team. Its like Gerrard at the [Poor language removed] theres no doubht hes a quality player but whats the point when you surrounded by [Poor language removed]!

Similarly with Ashavain and this mysterious Jo who i honestly have never heard of before. If they go to City they may well be gems in a team of stones!

You have to look at the development of the club and quality of the team you are going into, if they choose money over this then i personally dont want them here and they wont amount to much, im looking at you Mr Bellemy, Emre, Parker.

I think an important point about Ashavain in praticular is that if he was concerned primarily about money he wouldnt leave Zenith in the fiorst place as their loaded, and i have said already that i am not that pushed about signing him!

I read on another forum that on Arshavins tinterweb site in January he said something like: the premiership is the best league in the world and everton would be an ideal club for me.
It was something along those lines and i am sure it was real, thats why we were linked to him in the january transfer window. Surely that shows that IF we want him we will get him regardless of his wages, he's one of the wealthiest players in the russian league and he still wants out to come play here. I cant see any of the top 4 going for him so its between us, totenham, man city and maybe newcastle. But at least we know IF moyes wants him and is prepared to stump up an acceptable bid for him then we are Arshavins first choice, thats how i am looking at it anyway. (y)

Unless its on a loan spell i really don't see why we would go for Jo, we have enough strikers as it is especially when you consider we usually play 4-5-1. Its midfield we need to be looking to strengthen, and paying 18mill for an unproven striker when our transfer budget is not going to be mind blowing is idiotic, and i cant see it happening, just sounds like paper talk to me.

Well I guess if players do choose to go to clubs like MCity, NCastle etc etc where they pay ridiculous wages for average players then you get to know what they were really after in the first place. I just cannot wait for our first signing, it's driving me insane...
Most if not all players coming to play here are first and foremost after the cash,Why else leave family and friends miles away Ok if they get a choice of clubs willing to pay silly wages they will pick the club they deem more suited to them i.e.in London or if a fellow countryman is already there.

Never been to keen on Arhavin to be honest. He's shown flashes of quality but nothing more than somone like Arteta or Fernandes have. I can't see where he'd fit in either.

I haven't seen anything of Jo so I can't really comment. I know that we wouldn't spend 18 million on one player though. And especially on a striker.

I'm still hoping we bring in Fernandes, Diarra and Bradley. Centre midfield is key at the moment.

I think we should kick off with securing a midfield enforcer with whatever meagre funds we no doubt have available before we turn our attention toward some flavour of the month attacking player. 'We've' just let a very good defensive midfield player in Carsley waltz out the door and there's a big friggin' gap that needs to be plugged. Someone called Jo really isn't a priority.

Because that horrible tit of a chairman has a bit of clout with this wallet he looks like he could nick both Jo and Arshavin from under our noses.

[Poor language removed] em if they want to play for an average inconsistant side who scrapped into the Uefa cup through a fair play league and probably wont have a manager in a few weeks. But that's fine if they want to play for them.

Its rumours like this that fuels the fact we need some major financial clout.
I agree but with Bill having agreed that there will be no shares sold during the tesco deal we are stuck having said that we have not or rather Bill has not brought in much investment any way.

I saw jo playing against PSV and did not rate him at all Vagner love is a far better player. I see that there was a bit of gossip about nakamoura of celtic coming I think he would be a good addition. Arshavin is good but we will be priced out by city or should i say the thai peoples money.

We really don't want Nakamura, apart from his set pieces he is a very average player.

Seen this lad a few times, think he is ace. Would prefere him to jo. Thing is he's only about 5"8 an we really need to make our squad bigger (hight wise)

Just imagine the song from the street end thou.........

All we need is LOVE.....du..du..du..du..du all we need is love....

Haha, just think if we got Dudu as well. We could fit them both in one song (y)

Arshavin reminds me of Georgi Khinkladze when he was at Citteh. Tricky player, lots of skill - I've no idea if he has the temperament for the long PL season tho but if the UEFA Cup is anything to go by he looks good.
