Everton manager David Moyes said his players deserved full credit for their last-ditch win at Manchester City.
The Blues travelled to Eastlands without a recognised forward but stole all three points thanks to an injury-time header from Tim Cahill.
After a devastating late defeat at home to Aston Villa last week, Moyes told evertonTV his side had produced the perfect tonic.
"We thoroughly deserved it, there's no doubt about that," he declared. "It came late, but any time they come, we'll take them.
"I wouldn't have been disappointed [with a point] considering what we had, but we played well and created chances.
"We weren't going to come and play against such an attacking side and have the game our own way. But we did what we had to do and got our just rewards.
"People maybe don't realise how tough that [the defeat to Aston Villa] was. After last week, you could have thought our players would have gone under but they didn't half put that to bed today. They deserve a lot of credit."
Moyes opted to deploy Cahill as a lone striker after Victor Anichebe failed a late fitness test.
And the Scot was full of praise for his makeshift centre forward.
"He ran tremendously well, worked hard and it was great to see the fans chanting his name," he said.
"He's been threatening to score a goal for weeks now and he's got a really important one for us today."
