It's not even just his (lack of) longevity. He seems to rub people up the wrong way, so when he does leave it's not always a better place than when he joined. He's had tremendous success, but I'd argue that many of his clubs have been in a position where success is fairly guaranteed.
That's not to say that Wenger is going to be around for 5+ years either, but I think he could potentially put us back on an even keel again before we get someone that could build a dynasty.

I think he can be classed as a footballing "dinosaur" now too.
The younger more dynamic managers seem to adopt a deadly fast front line hitting teams on the break. But Van Gaals, like Mourinho's, the boring approach was succesful maybe ten years ago.
