I think, and again I may be wrong, but because ‘they’ wanted to get rid of it, it was put to a vote....Democracy eh.....
True, they ought to have stuck some absolute bollocks on the side of a bus and disseminated more on't 'net using foreign backers' $ to get the gullible on board.

Can't fault the try at humour but not remotely the same, the statue has been up longer than most peoples great, great, great grandfathers were alive. Slavery was abolished in 1833, 112 years after the bloke died. Abhorrent as it was it was normal back then, just like colonisation it was the done thing. I don't think we look at almost all of Saville's peers and see they were doing the same thing.

It was.

That said, most Bristolians are way more arsed about it being the slowest city to drive through, the 40 year wait for a decent music arena, every square inch being made into a cycle path, and the rebuild of Southmead Hospital including chucking half a car park away for 500 cycle lock spaces.

But if you dont have an affinity with this country why not move if you are able to?

Everton make you fume but we all ultimately love them and are proud of our history/club/traditions.

For those that hate everything about the UK I dont see why they continue to live here.
Maybe they're proud of their country and the bits they deem worthy of praise but dislike the bits, that perhaps others find admirable, but they find appalling.

Maybe they think that we should do better and strive for improvement rather than just accepting the things they don't like and living with it.

Considering this is a thread about BLM, this is all getting rather Trumpian, "if you don't like it go back to where you came from".

You need to march and throw stuff in the water mate.......

But what about Churchill!

It's not even 'go back to where you come from', it's 'if you don't like the country, just move'.

Don't like racism or a country that enables it, just leave!

I always thought the cockneys who support teams like West Ham, Milwall, Spurs, Chelsea tend to be very pro-Brexit, no?
A lot of the people who grew up in central London around places like that have moved further out to places like Essex and Kent nowadays.

Central London leant more towards remain and, Kensington/Westminster aside, Labour in the General Election.
