In the early 1930's Antifaschistische Aktion (abbreviated to antifa) was founded by the Communist Party in Germany to engage in direct action and street fights with the rising Nazi party and facism.

It has continued as such and though the far left types don't like to admit it, or internet pseudos don't understand, it is the nature of the beast. The far left do want to smash the current world order (capitalist system) meaning that far left and anarchism can be discussed interchangeably by the media etc.

The different movements have the same name but different things though.

The original organisation you mention was the paramilitary wing of the KPD. In all honesty, the 1930's was a very particular time, as was Weimar Germany. Democracy was quite modern and not as cemented as it is, neither were reforming organisations. Anarchists were certainly not involved in that section of it.

The AFA that followed in the 70's, 80's was a bit a mix between builders, dockers, some trotskyists, anarchists and some hunt sabb guys. It looked very different to the AFA you have mentioned.

Those people who use ANTIFA now are a different organisation again. I don't rate them much if I'm honest. Some crossover with some lefty anarchists. I'm not sure how many structural communists really get involved with them now. They're a bit of an embarassment.

Yes mate but Antifa is a communist movement and populated by the far left. They are the facts and all that I am saying.
Ah sorry I thought you were talking about anarchism in general. I must have missed the earlier point.

antifa definitely have close links to the communist school of anarchism.

Churchill was a 'kin scumbag, so why shouldn't he be saluted by them? His goal was to defend British colonialism, not fight fascism.

It's entirley logical that assembled right wing yahoos seek to defend the icons of slavery and colonialism.

But it's a very odd thing to do, to gather at the memorials of WW2 and the PM who fought Nazism, and make the salute of the enemy he fought. Like don't sit there and make out your defending British values and history, and the memory of Churchill if thats how you behave. It's actually more insulting to those who died in WW2 than some graffiti (which is also stupid). You're literally making the political salute of the people who slaughtered our soldiers. Urinating on their memory. If you do that, you deserve everything you get.

With the fight against Coronavirus on a knife edge in this country - the Tories should have made it clear - any large scale protests is breaking the social distancing law and would result in 2 years imprisonment - do not pass go do not collect £200.

See how many of the middle class toffs would still dare to venture out knowing they could get slung in the gulag.

Its crazy all this when we are still one of the worst hit countries in the world.

I don't really get this mate, as it seems to apply to any change in social order, including those supporting Brexit, and I haven't seen them described as anarchists. An u missing something?

Hang on. Are the idiots protecting the Churchill statue giving Nazi salutes ...

Oh what a world we live in
The whole thing is bats**t mental.

I still don’t know where I stand on the violence protest/riot thing.

but all of this rubbish is now missing the broader point.

which is to eradicate institutional racism. And classism. And sexism. Et al.

I wish people would just stop. Remember the point and then focus on that.

let’s just all agree that society is unbalanced. There are structural biases that favour some groups over other. We need to work at addressing those things. Some people might feel like they are losing out but it’s going to be better for everyone if we start recognising these flaws in the system and doing something about it.

it feels like that idea is completely lost now.

If I am not mistaken, their own website indicates that most members come from the far left and anarchist movement. I know a few committed radicals who identify as both. As long as there are far right headcases then its natural far the left to go at them in the same way.

You seem to think the current government are capable of getting a handle on all of this. They are not. Also, the reason that UK are one of the hardest hit countries is because of the tory government. They should be held to account, as should those who voted them in.
