How does anyone get such an inferiority complex?
Embarrassing.
They have an excellent record against us in this fixture but this is Liverpool, the team that routinely plays poor against utter tripe, the one that hasn't won a domestic title for 27 years. They are not one of the heads of state in our game.
Not sure if you’re addressing fans or the players here? From a fans point of view I’m not sure it’s fair to label it an inferiority complex because any sane, rational person would look at our derby record, particularly in the premier league era, and expect that a loss on Sunday is likely. We’ve had much better teams and they’ve had much worse, yet we’ve still lost. It’s the players and managers who have let us down in this game. Not us fans.
I haven’t seen one compelling argument for us securing a victory on Sunday. Most people who are positive seem to be saying “they have a feeling”. This isn’t Star Wars and the force isn’t strong with us. I agree that people resigning themselves to 5-0 defeats before a ball has even be kicked is a little OTT as we’re not playing PSG and we are the only team this season to hold Manchester City in the league which proves that we can formulate a solid game plan and we got a good point from that game- I’d be perfectly happy with the same on Sunday. But surely you can understand why people are apprehensive about this game and don’t fancy giving it large on a forum and being a blue cheerleader? We’ve done it all before and it doesn’t go so well.
The best thing would be to attempt to be objective about this fixture. They’re in good form, we’ve got two wins in a row and two clean sheets. They overall have a better team, particularly in attack, and are at home. Both defences aren’t great, who’s is worse is debatable. Rooney should be up for it. Footy innit. Win, lose or draw. Only one of those three can happen. Three points for a win, one for a draw.. jumpers for goalposts and all that.
