No, because the award is for the African player of the year and both Salah and Mane are short-listed for it, and Salah is the massive favourite to win the award and the president of Egypt has already made a statement saying he will be attending that awards mate.
By all means Klopp may stop him going, but stopping a player attending quite possibly the biggest individual award he as a player could win would not be the smartest thing for him to do.

On it mate. Still not sure I buy into this though. Whether he’s there or not he’ll still be the recipient of the award, I’m really not sure how bothered either him or Mane would be to not attend. I’m pretty sure players in general wouldn’t put an awards ceremony ahead of a match day anyway. And let’s say Gana was up for it (or in another world Niasse)- I’m pretty sure we’d all be furious to think that he was jetting off a day before a derby. Clubs pay the wages, I imagine that’s where the buck stops.

I'm guessing mane will stay and salah will go, and mate, he's the sporting hero of a country that's been absolutely devastated this decade and having him accept it via a video link because he's playing in the third round of a cup the manager normally fields a kids and b team players in at this stage would be massively insulting.
Awards important enough that the countries president will be attending but the player will be too busy as he has an early round cup game to play in...

Yeah,seen that yesterday then thought no way will they let them go there,might try a live link up etc,and if they did go,even if back in time,they would be sub at best
God this could be brilliant, imagine their plane gets delayed so they can't get back in time. We then beat them convincingly and get to witness his meltdown as once again his team selection gets questioned by sky reporters
already confirmed a private jets taking them there and back
