Liverpool players visit kids in hospital

To be fair i'm not really that impressed. It's little more than a PR stunt, they're all kitted out in the LFC jarg clothing and the cameras are there to take those perfect media photos. Heartfelt philanthropy this is not.

Now if Suarez or the others had shown up out of the blue at a hospital to spend time with the kids not on LFC time, it would be a different story.

(I would have similar opinions if it was Everton players, btw. It's not an anti Liverpool stance)

Footballers do loads of charity work without drawing attention to it. They can be slated for lots of things but that aint one of them.

Not that anyone was slating them anyway...

It's good of the LFC players to do that, and the kid is a legend! Can someone confirm if he really was reacting with disgust to their players or if his expression because of a medical condition? If it's the former than this should definitely be a meme.

look lads, let's be honest. They're still [Poor language removed] no matter how often they go visit the kids. FTRS.

Personally well done to them, my exes daughter had cancer when she was 3 and we had to take her every 3-6 months to the Manchester Children's Hospital. I will never ever forget the first time I went onto the ward and saw the kids in there, some been there for months, no hair because of the treatment, frail little children that spend more time in the hospital not being able to get out of bed for months and months. I wasdeeply saddened and it always got to me when we went there. I remember Phil Neville whilst he was at Man U coming in one day with Julie and brought a Wii, large HD tv, loads of games allsorts. He went round every bed and spoke to the kids and they were all made up to see him and have pictures etc. I believenow at least twice a month Manchester United and City players go to this hospital and see the kids and this was arranged between the players not as a Club PR stunt. I am also aware Phil Jagielka does a lot for a local charity near where he lives in Knutsford, Cheshire.

Lets just hope that this by Liverpool and I presume Everton are doing the same is not just for Christmas and is done on a regular basis, because these kids are severely ill and some may not even get home again. So lads keep the comments sensible FFS

Hopefully this. I was working at pendlebury hospital for a bit, a few years ago and to be fair, it does make there day.

Geezuzz! Some people get carried away!

There's two separate agendas running here.

One is that there is a humorous photo posted that is simply pointing out a bunch of LFC players visiting a kid under an EFC doona. The kid has what appears to be a shocked look on his face. Simple. It's humorous due to the situation &, perhaps, the expression. I've not seen anyone comment disrespectfully about the kid and I doubt anyone intends to. He's there, he's sick, yes, but it's not his illness that provides the humour, its the situation. This is PC BS!

The other is the charity work. Be it voluntary or a contractual obligation, it's a kids hospital FFS, they don't care so much about that part. They're there and the kids are happy to see them. Yeah, it's PR for the clubs but its also an opportunity remind the community that others are doing it tough at this time of year. How many of us have popped into a local hospital recently to see if we can help...I know I haven't. (Even though my daughter just broke her elbow & spent yesterday at the Royal Childrens Hospital down here!)
