Liverpool embarrassing themselves and football. (a definitive list)

there was a story doing the rounds at the time(Know idea how true) that the waiter knew it wasn't Shields but would not say so as it would have cost him £75,000 in compo, if nobody was convicted , so Shields was left in the [Poor language removed] , by everybody including some of his own fans.
I have no idea but remember it. The default position is always 'it was not him' coupled with 'they fitted him up' because other justice systems are always corrupt and ours is always fair.

The 'Suarez is innocent' racism t-shirt.

Plus a fair proportion of their fan's at home games.

Well heeled tourists who probably put Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, and Arsenal in a hat. Picked out the RS and decided to support them. No actual link to the club via locality, family, or social class.
What social class do you need to be to go to the match?

God! Where to start?
Here's an early one -
That squeeky voiced woolyback from Barrrow encouraging the crowd to sing 'Everton are tragic'
TBF he took a lot of stick for that, and much of it was from kopites. No doubt in my mind though that that episode was one of the catalysts for the latter day animosity between the two sets of fans.
Classless cringeworthy behaviour which SOME saw as a green light for crassness.
True. Even his team mates could not stand him.

The original song is fine, if a bit dated now. It tells of a young man being transported to Australia because he stole some Government owned corn during the Famine in order to feed his younger siblings. I have been known to sing it at the occasional party.

That travesty that they sing at the tin mine makes no sense at all. There are zero fields and sfa grass to be seen anywhere around analfield road. As for the verses they made up they are stomach churning.
Grand if you are from East Galway, ya big culchie!!!

Apologies, I must lose the working class chip on the shoulder.
Don't do class. They are all people. Biggest challenge to social mobilty is believing you do not belong. If you have the ability and luck you belong anywhere you want to. Its just a lot easier if the family is loaded to begin with!

My grandfather was a red, but god knows what he would make of the crowd at Analfield these days.

He worked for English Electric, shop steward, and Labour Party member and season ticket for the Kemlyn Road stand.

;) All four of his son's (including my dad) were rabid blues.

The demographics of the crowd, at the RS, both Manchester clubs, and the big ones in London, has changed beyond all recognition.

More people are flying in for games and staying the weekend.

Look at crowd pictures, up to the 1980's, and it was white, male, and obviously working class.

This is all now long gone, and maybe it's for the better.

I don't know if these have been posted but what the actual are they? I think the hat may have been an attempt to use the Madrid coat of arms but that's Atletico's badge...

The only thing that’s changed is the “obviously working class numbers” are down....the crowds are still overwhelming white and male.
