Did they include managers? as I think we have a case there...

Fully expecting a special on who's got the biggest dad's between us and them in the new year...
You think Carlo Ancelloti has done more for everton this calendar year than horse chops has for the rs?

‘offensive’ to say the team first in the table, unbeaten all year might have better players than ours who have flirted with the bottom 3
Not at all, I have no problem with Liverpool being recognised in their own way but why dump on Everton in such glorious fashion. The Liverpool Echo is our local paper. Why drop a turd bomb on us in this fashion.
There is no need. It just shows the disdain the Echo have for us.

BTW, in an effort to be 'edgy' and 'controversial' Prentice (and rememeber this is for the whole calendar year of 2019) has actually decided that Matip performed better than Zouma - who was a colossus for us. He also believes that Gueye, who was easily one of the best midfielders in the PL last season, wasn't good enough to displace either Henderson or Wijnaldum. More than anything there was the form of Digne at LB. It doesn't matter that Robertson won a CL medal last season, he was NEVER better than Digne over the course of that season - and to be perfectly honest, I dont see anything other than a better than average PL FB in him.

There were three easy decisions to put Everton players in there, but Mr Edgy chose to be 'controversial'.

Oooooh, he's so radical.
So your argument is that three of our players should get in based on half a season of play, and presumably just ignore the respective RS players performances this season?

RE: Robertson/Digne last season (2nd half, which is the only thing that contributes to this assessment), Robertson made EIGHT PL assists in the second half of last season. Digne got 2 (and 1 goal).

There simply isn’t an argument to be made that any of our players should make the 2019 TOTY. What I will agree with is that (given that none of our players made the team) it shouldn’t have been featured on the Echo Everton page/Twitter accounts.

There is a very big argument that the Echo shouldn’t have run this piece though. It’s jus offensive.

I mean, the article is a joke and clearly doing the job it was intended to do. Get lots of people talking about, retweeting, etc, whether that's them gloating or us fuming.

But being honest, the way they steamroller every team in sight, twice a week, for a full 96 minutes, even after 10 hour flights to & from the Middle East, with a tiny rotational squad, and on the back of 3 consecutive full European campaigns and with 3 summer International tournaments in between, you really can only stand by and admire their ability to defy every physical impossibility that has hitherto existed in the sport and definitely not wonder or question why that is the case.

Its pasta stations people. Stop being so suspicious.

You are actual demanding he sticks a PSG player in a combined team.

Gomes is vastly better than any midfielder they have, but you cant stick an injured player in.
No, the clue's in the title of his piece mate:

Combined Everton and Liverpool team of year for 2019

Maybe he just doesn't understand the rules of his own game? Or maybe he does but he knew that sticking Gueye in there would ruin the overall "edgy" effect he desired?

Or maybe realised that Gueye only played half a season in 2019 and therefore those performances (as excellent as they were) shouldn’t be weighted as double those of people who performed for the full 12 months.

I wish that the team was littered with our players... but the Echo isn’t the reason that it’s not.
