Some of the better tribute bands are as good as the real group.( imo )

The Aussie Pink Floyd and The Jamm are every bit as good for instance.

Particularly The Jamm, as you got to see them in a small venue, which just made their gigs brilliant. ( sadly no more due to the death of their lead singer )

I’ve also seen one of the AC/DC tribute bands - Live Wire and in a small venue, they weren’t far off the real band either.

If a tribute band is good, they offer real value for money and it’s much much less hassle going to see them in a small local venue, over a trip to an overpriced, soulless mega bowl.
True ... I've seen Think Floyd in Grimdon and they were pretty spot on.
In the early 90s Jethro Tull rocked up and played at the leisure centre ... the biggest place Grimdon has for a stand up gig. The acoustics were awful and temperature waa about what you'd want for 5 a side football. After the first song, Ian Anderson said ... "well, if this is the bestcplace you have for us to play, Swindon, we won't be coming back."

30 years later and all of us older, they came back and played at the comfortable sit down theatre. By this stage we were all grateful for seats.

Yes I agree, the tribute band circuit is getting extremely competitive and so for the most part the quality is very high, ticket prices usually come in around the €30/35 so its excellent value, saw a Bruce Springsteen tribute a few months ago and they were wonderful

I saw an Elton John tribute act this year, after watching the real Elton John the year before. The tribute was far superior because he didn't just shout.

Going to see Breaking Benjamin next July in Manchester. In their 25-ish years of existing as a band they've rarely ever toured in Europe and this could very well be the last time they end up coming over. I was into them as a teenager, so really looking forward to finally being able to see them in the flesh at age 40
Really wanted to go and see Breaking Benjamin next year but they're only doing small venues and sold out instantly. If by any chance anyone has a spare ticket I'm happy to trade it for seggsual favours.
They ended up increasing their originally planned ticket cap at the O2 Victoria, which is how I ended up with mine after they had sold out within hours. Worth checking Ticketmaster but I suspect that they'll have sold out again..

Went to see Squeeze a couple of years ago at the Royal concert hall Glasgow, they were brilliant then so thought it was great value them supporting Madness.
Squeeze are actually headlining at the Hydro next year, won't have done their ticket sales any harm after their last performance.
Squeeze played the music hall in Aberdeen, the ticket prices were ridiculous considering you could see them supporting madness for less than half the price.
They played cradle to the grave ,the previous time, according to setlist they missed it this year.

I saw Squeeze last year, they were superb. Had Badly Drawn Boy supporting them who was also superb.
Saw Badly Drawn boy at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. Damon was so pissed/stoned that he fell asleep on stage during the 3rd song. The rest of the band played on till the end of the song, unplugged and got off, leaving Damon still fast asleep🤣

I can only do live gigs if there is seating available these days. Sadly my lower back just cannot hack standing up for hours watching people.

That said I am gonna try do a few more DJ's next year to keep my youth alive.

I sae The Pogues when they played at Blues football ground along with The Beat and UB40. Shane was so pissed he lay on the floor at one point and went to sleep while the band played on 😆
