Lifes A Pitch (Moyes would like to leave)

Does every other club finish exactly where their net spend says they should, or are there other mavericks breaking through the financial boundaries?

Anyway, I can't listen to journalists talk about Everton. They love belittling the club's stature/history and the message to the fans is always 'know your place'.

I hope the most morally bankrupt billionaire on the planet buys Everton, builds some grotesque Death Star on Stanley Park and finances a team of heartless mercenaries who go on to sweep all before them. I'd then ban all these joke journalists from the stadium and tell them to continue covering traditional big clubs such as Chelsea and Manchester City.

On average over the 11 years, and versus other premiership teams, we're 7 places higher than our finances dictate, and that is down mostly to David Moyes' transfer activity and subsequent use of those players.

Every team who finishes above us in the league spends way more than we do, and there are 6 or 7 teams below us who also spend more. We're a financial anomaly.

This is the point though mate isn't it, is that not why everyone keeps harping back to the 90's because we were always in relegation fights. Under Moyes we aren't and a lot of fans are seemingly just happy with that fact.

I'm not I want to be challenging for things, whether financially viable or not. I still believe and will keep on believing that our trophy cabinet may be full again someday.

This is an odd argument I hear repeatedly...

We rate Moyes so we don't want trophies? Just couldn't be more wrong.
We rate Moyes because despite the lack of funds for us and the increase to those all around he still builds teams capable of competing with them. Teams that far exceed where we should be. Teams that include players that when sold keep the club afloat. Teams that improve when we sell for 10 mil and get 5mil back.

Everything the board does wrong is countered by Moyes because he has no choice. Getting rid of our best asset because your bored is just mental, let me make this clear.... WE ALL WANT TO BE CHALLENGING FOR EVERYTHING, some just get angry about dreams not coming true, others live in reality.

We havn't won things under Moyes... Sometimes because of Moyes inept performances, sometimes because of the players inept performances.. always because of the board. Look at our options, so far Martinez is top of the list... he is almost entirely made of inept performances, hence the league position, but the odd win seems enough for some because he hasn't been knocked out of the cup yet. Do you find that acceptable?

However we've constantly kept up with the competition under Moyes despite every year being faced with a bigger and bigger gap in money spent between us and the opposition.

Why is it so hard for you to understand that actually.. that is quite good. Imagine two teams one with 100mil squads, they spend 100mil in the summer, one with a 50mil squad, they sell 10mil of players and buy 5mil... They then finish within a few points of each but the expensive team finishes above them by a couple of points... which manager has done best?

Listen if your happy for him to plod along and hold us to ransom until something better comes along, that's up to you. I've always been behind him despite my misgivings about certain things but when he started arsing us about over this contract I've lost respect for him and would like him to close the door on the way out. I'll take my chances with someone new if that's what is on the horizon.

Thought it was good viewing tbh, some interesting points and views on Moyes. It's interesting that none of the clubs deemed better than us in the league have ever had a genuine interested in him, like they say, Spurs have never courted him or been in for him. Was linked to em alot but they was never interested!.

Talk about Chelsea and by the sounds of it he as been talked about as a possible appointment but they reckon they wont, which i do too. IF he does go, i cant see what bigger job he'll get in the prem cos i dont think the likes of Chelsea or City IF they sack Mancini, will want him?.

I think it's either stick it out with us for another 3 years, try and rebuild and kick on again, go to the Bundesliga or take time out from the game and wait about for a job, which i cant see him doing at all?!.

7th placed trophy lads!

its all about the 7th placed trophy! FFS

we are everton so be greatful of that 7th placed trophy!!

all hail moyes fc!

I don't think he would have the bottle to move yet, he's scared of the pressure he would be on in Germany because of the hype he gets now.

He'll sign a contract last minute at the end of May, nailed on.

They covered all the bases but like all things Moyes there's the caveat of he hasn't won anything in 11 yrs - how much time do you give a fella?

Rank poor chairmanship letting the manager call the shots over the contract though

Really dont get that arguement at all!. Peoeple say we punch above are weight all the time as if are team isnt that good and its all down to Moyes where we are, what a load of bollox!. Yes, he's a good manager and gets us doing well, but we have got some good players in our side, alot of players other top teams like and would want!.

You cant tell me that IF we had another manager in with our players, they wouldnt do well and we'd be mid table or whatever?!. IF we made the right appointment, im sure the new manager would get are players playing and performing to a similar level cos some, or should i say alot, of our players are good players!.

I wont have anyone tell me that alot of our players are mearly average joes and Moyes gets that extra 20% out of them to play above themselves and there ture ability, no way!.

Basically IMO, what your saying when you say are team far exceeds where it should be, is that the likes of Baines, Felli, Jags, Pienaar, Mirallas, Gibbo, Distin, Ossie, Jelavic, Coleman etc would not be so good if it wasnt for Moyesies management, they wouldnt be the players they are today without him and under someone else?!.

Dont buy that at all. They are all good players, some better than others and most would all do well at bigger clubs!.

if you read the papers in the eighties it was often ..Southall performing wonders to keep average Everton up there..then Kendall was a genius who shouldn't be allowed to leave.. often a team just has good players with a good attitude because that is who the club are and how they are set up...this Messiah thing about Moyes is a way of refusing to admit that teams don't fit into the narrow box lazy media people have prepared for them...we have good players who are responding to a good manager...and as you say will respond to another good manager if we get one

That was better than expected in that at least some journos have an insight into the present position/dilemma from both sides of the coin.

Moyes has always been a man of principle. So if as it seems he genuinely wants to move on, he should go at the end of the season even if he hasn't recieved a suitable offer at another club. I think he has already decided to do this and is preparing for a spell doing media work until such and offer arrives.

Otherwise this could be like the relationship with a partner which had died a thousand deaths and which you know is going to finish as soon as one of you meets someone else. It could end up very messy which would be a shame given it's longevity.

brilliant summing up...nothing is black and white.. it just may be best for both parties for him to go now

But moyes brought in those players. If we had a manager who was even just average in the transfer market, we'd be roughly Sunderland.

It's very impressive, I agree. As a fanbase which backs its pauper chairman to the hilt, it's the absolute best we could hope for.

I don't think it's going to do Moyes much good in terms of his ambitions though (and his desire to leave is what this thread was originally about). The clubs he wants to manage are rich enough not to care about his ability to spot diamonds in the rough and grind out respectable league finishes with a small squad.

The more I think about it, the more the rumours about him going abroad make sense. The glass ceiling is much higher for poor clubs in other countries. Just look at what Pellegrini was able to do with Villarreal.

We all know Kenwright and Moyes are very close friends.
If Moyes is going im sure they are both working on plan B. Moyes will not leave mess behind.
