Really dont get that arguement at all!. Peoeple say we punch above are weight all the time as if are team isnt that good and its all down to Moyes where we are, what a load of bollox!. Yes, he's a good manager and gets us doing well, but we have got some good players in our side, alot of players other top teams like and would want!.
You cant tell me that IF we had another manager in with our players, they wouldnt do well and we'd be mid table or whatever?!. IF we made the right appointment, im sure the new manager would get are players playing and performing to a similar level cos some, or should i say alot, of our players are good players!.
I wont have anyone tell me that alot of our players are mearly average joes and Moyes gets that extra 20% out of them to play above themselves and there ture ability, no way!.
Basically IMO, what your saying when you say are team far exceeds where it should be, is that the likes of Baines, Felli, Jags, Pienaar, Mirallas, Gibbo, Distin, Ossie, Jelavic, Coleman etc would not be so good if it wasnt for Moyesies management, they wouldnt be the players they are today without him and under someone else?!.
Dont buy that at all. They are all good players, some better than others and most would all do well at bigger clubs!.
Because Moyes is very good, this appointment will have to be something special to improve us until we get some real funding, fortunately this is a really good time to be a prem manager as money is about to happen, whoever is in charge really has this one opportunity to make a push..
Alternatively the money will not come due to the board and the manager will literally have to follow on from Moyes.
In which case, whereas season 1 often goes well for a new manager, he'll then have to face an Everton transfer window where he will have to strengthen the squad to stand still, but be expected to move forwards, and also to do so by selling a player for 10mil and buying one for 5mil.
Also you've misconstrued my meaning of exceeding where we should be mate, I meant in a financial/league position kind of way. All those players you mentioned that are quality were bought by Moyes on a net spend of a few million quid. They are quality and that's why we are fighting for a European place again, but because of the financial restraints, we still have a small squad that makes things difficult.
I love the squads Moyes builds. its the main reason I am such a Moyes fan, without him we wouldn't of had many of Arteta, Cahill, Baines, Pienaar, Lescott, Jags, Mirallas, Gibson, Fellaini and a horde of other quality players he's bought in.
And whilst Moyes strengthens every season with new bargain basement players, those around us strengthen with mega bucks signings or multiple squad players, he still keeps up.
This is the challenge for the new manager.
To be better than Moyes he has to be
*Tactically sound
*Exciting to watch
*Win cups
*Do well in the league
*Not make unrectifiable mistakes in the transfer market
*constantly buy good players year on year for less money than the players he sells
*keep us challenging for Europe
Thats not to mention slating his boss, being cheap on wages, playing young players irregardless of if they are good enough and also not slip up in the media.
I'm still not convinced that's the likes of Martinez who sits in the relegation zone at the current time that so many are raving about.
