This! We’ve got a squad of bang average midfielders: McCarthy, Schneiderlin, Besic, Klaasen. We should be clearing them out and giving someone like Walsh a chance. This lad is class and a better player than Davies. At the very least we should be extending his contract and sending him on loan next season.
Or get rid of all the bang average lads, this lad included.

I was talking to a few of are youth players a while back about him , said he is really strong despite his size, hard to knock of the ball ect.
Looks like he could be a cracker player , hope we put a buy back clause in the transfer.
Not going to get a look in here so might be better for himself to get a move and game time.

I have been told his attitude is the main reason he's not playing.

We can’t keep every young prospect. And sometimes a move to a championship team can make the players career.

This. We're not Chelsea (thank god). There comes to a point where you have to make a call on every young player. And at 20 years of age, a player such as Walsh has every right to expect first-team football at a professional level if he's good enough.

without a measuring tape i dont have an exact figure but hes at least as tall as hazard whos 5ft 7 or 8 depending what site you use for a source

Have you seen them both standing together??

That is a strange method of working out peoples height you have got.

yes in u23 match that hazard played coming back from injury. thats why i used him as a benchmark. hes done alright for a short-arse ;)

He’s 5’6.

Source: I was literally stood talking to him a couple of weeks ago.

Hopefully Allardyce shifts them out.

Of the centre mids...

Klaassen, Besic, McCarthy wouldn't even be missed.

Schneiderlin should be sold due to his attitude (you don't have half a season of poor form and no effort)

That leaves us with Gana, Davies, Baningime, Rooney for 2 positions. Very light but they all get games for the rest of the season and we can add a star player in there in the summer.

Walsh has been injured a lot - My older brother reckons he is a Bobby Collins style midfielder - we need to renew his contract and send him out on loan again or have a cheap buy back clause if need be!

Bit of Groundhog Day here as we had this discussion earlier in the week. Apparently the source is The S** so probabably half true, I.e Bristol City want him and have approached us. So a decision to be made and I could only envisage one scenario of him going.
Walsh has been one of our age group stand out players for the past few seasons, and last time I saw him he was MoM in the 3-0 away win at Chelsea U23s. Given that Joe Williams and now Callum Connolly are holding their own as midfielders in the Championship you’d have to say that, by comparison, he’s at least a good Championship player.

What we haven’t seen is whether he can cut it at PL level. And on that basis I’d hold on to him al least until the summer . He’s definitely got something , we just need to assess if it’s PL material and sometimes you don’t know that until he plays at that level. Davies excelled above U23s level when he got his chance, and Beni Benimgime actually looked better with more time in his first team games than he’s done recently with the u 23s. £1 mill is nothing , we probably payed that or close to it for Denis Adeniran, so it seems crazy to give away someone until we,re certain of his PL potential.

If he wants to go for whatever reason then that scenario changes things , if not keep him longer and tell him how he can prove himself.

..from what I remember, we agreed to let him go this time last season but he picked up a few bad injuries. With so many in the queue ahead of him and others coming through it was always likely he’d go. It’s the way it is. I’m sure he’ll be chuffed with the move.

I hope we put in a buyback clause. Walsh is one of those players that probably won't make it because of physical qualities, but he is too intelligent a player to give up on. There is fight in him as well. I wish him the best of luck.
