We have a lot of appeal for an up and coming player.

New owners
New Manager
Improvement during last season
Almost guaranteed a first team place, at least to begin with
A fan base that would idolise him if he came good
And then that magnificent new stadium on the waterfront
If Moyes can sell him some of these points and more I think we have great appeal.

Just stand him on Goodison Road, hand him a No9 shirt and ask him if he wants to become immortal like Dixie, Joe and the rest who tower over him.

Lad has anything about him he signs there and then 🤷‍♂️

Happy if we get him , not particularly disappointed
if we don’t .
There are plenty of other players around and many of them will be better ( and cheaper).
Problem with buying British is that they are more expensive and therefore represent a higher risk .

He has options. Will be interesting to see what route he takes. I'm sure if he listens to his agent, he'll be on top money sat on a bench at Utd or Chelsea, but if he wants regular football, Everton would be a better choice for his career. Even at Newcastle, he's going to be second fiddle behind Isak.
He will listen to his father, perhaps if we get Rory in as a long throw specialist we will steal a march on the others. It would boil the media's pish if he comes to us.

And? Check out Gyokeres stats aged 22 if you want a hipster example. We also signed Yakubu on the back of scoring 12 and 13 in successive seasons for Boro. Any player we sign is going to be a risk.
Again, with Yakubu you are going back to what 2008? Almost 18 years

Gyokeres hasn't scored a single Premier League goal of his career, there's no guarantee he will come from scoring goals in Portugal and it will transpire to the Premier League (just like Darwin Nunez)

It was actually harder back then as well, there had to be 2 defenders playing the striker onside.
Is it not that way now, it still is two players but most people think it's GK and an outfield player because it is most of the time but if the keeper were out of his area for whatever reason, it will fall on 2 defenders.

I could be wrong, been a while since I looked at rules.
