Chelsea are a far more attractive proposition than Everton at the moment, they are on the up and have Champions league football immediately, they already have some excellent young footballers, Tuchel seemingly biased towards their squad for England and at this time their strikers are not great so Delap will fancy himself to be the main man. He’s not getting game time over Isak and Man Utd are a laughing stock.
Delap is also going to be on obscene weekly wages for over 5 years.

My worry is that Pickford and Branthwaite are ideal for them and they can seemingly just lob money around with impunity. It’s going to be a long summer.

Or a fat wage packet in the big smoke. Football comes secondary as it eases the burden when your not playing much or fulfilling potential.

I'm not crying about him either (don't rate him too highly). But I can't wrap my head around looking at that souless Chelsea squad, it's size, player turnover (which they need to do) and think "this is the home for me".

Money is certainly important, but I don’t think it’s money we can’t compete with , it’s our lack of success.

30 years since our last trophy
Our prestige has eroded .
Players don’t want to look back and realise their biggest sporting achievements were not being relegated.

He'll join a long list of promising young players who are in the massive senior playing squad but hardly actually play football at Chelsea. Even if they don't sign more strikers (which they more than likely will) he's going to be second or third choice at best. I'm seeing a few substitute appearances and some league cup starts and a loan move away in 18 months time. Good luck with that Liam
