There you go , we see him differently already! The only times I've seen him was playing left back for England U17s in this summers Euro tournament. He stood out as looking a class act. Hard to judge him on so few games , but he's up there for me with the other three full backs I've remembered from England U17s over the years, Kenny, Connolly and a lad called Jay Dasilva on Chelsea's books who looked to be a great left back.

I would play him in at left back initially and see how he goes, he may well be a great CB too, but at 17 he's still young so ease him in first , then review situation .

Well it's either him vying with Feeney, Foulds and the Dutch kid in the middle or Robinson and Garbutt left-back.

Still think he's a CB just learning his trade out wide like lots of them do. He's only 16 remember; safer out wide.

'The reputation has long been there that Everton brings through young players.....the likes of JJ Kenny, Kieron Dowell and Tom Davies are battling for first team places along with several others'

Said this in another thread there is no better selling point for the club, then its academy graduates (admittedly very talented graduates) playing for the first team. When you consider we've beaten off competition from city and Spurs to sign this lad, then it is a real filip for academy and the work it does with our youngsters.

Met a geordie in magaluf last saturday 1. That anyone goes to magaluf makes their reasoning questioning. (I was there on a stag) .2. He was drinking a fair bit but so was i. 3. He is a geordie. ....But he knew all the signings we made including the youth ones. He had a very good knowledge gibson. The type of player he is and possibly could be. In simple terms he says the lad is the moat talented lad he has seen in youth football up that part of the country and if he progresses at a steady rate is a sure long term senior international. He says he has everything in his licker at the moment.

But that was magaluf, drunk at 3pm on a saturday

What was the 'type' of player? Seems highly rated this lad but not sure what type he is. Classy ball player or defensive rock?

It’s a very risky game, even the likes of Lookman could fail to become anything other than average. DCL is awful.

I’m not sure about this proven record though.

Kante - bought for 5.6m sold for 32m - Mahrez, Vardy...that's proof enough for me...and Everton it appears

None of those were youth players though.

They were established first team players. Walsh is going wild with the chequebook signing youngsters, which I suspect will completely backfire.

We can't win, when we spend big Keane, klassen and possibly siguardsson, Walsh is criticised for the not buying the next Kante or mahrez.
So alternatively we invest in very talented youngsters Henry (Arsenal were after him) and Gibson (city and Spurs linked with him) and now this will backfire. I just don't know what supporters expect from our transfer policy. I'm quite happy with the balance if I'm honest.

Our first team acquisitions have been great, I just fear that we’re giving this nuisance too much cash to spend on youth when it would be best served strengthening the first team.

If all goes to plan, our first team will be strengthened significantly in about 2 years time should these lads develop as we hope. I appreciate that not every youngster you buy (like any signing) isn't going to be a world beater. But judging by the credentials and clubs after these players, shows they are talented.

Only time will tell...I'd agree if the young lads were all that we were buying...but as you say we're buying established players too...and they ARE strengthening the first team so best of both worlds for me

The reservation I have is (from what I've read) this kid has already turned his back on Middlesbrough, now Newcastle. There is definitely a breed of young player who are stars in their own head/twitter account before they've kicked a ball. The turnover of kids in academies is massive & the final hurdle to the senior game is by far the biggest.

We all thought we'd stole Garbutt from Leeds. Doubt we'll even make a return on investment there.

.....enough misery. Keane/Gibson for EFC & Ingerlund for the next 10 years!!!!

COYB!!!!

...this nuisance ......

Should be ashamed of yourself. I can't bring myself to quote your post, but Dear God, this is Everton's management structure approved by the owner and delivering prospective talent. Cannot understand why he is being attacked for buying up the best young talent in the market.
