Lescott to Vanilla...

And Arteta's better.

Bit off topic but unless Barry likes being a bench warmer - which will affect his international chances - where's he going to play if they've still got Alonso and Mascherano with Gerrard infront of them? Everyone knows thats probably their best line up in the midfield.

I hope they do buy him them because it'll be another waste of the Waiters doe and will ruin Barry's career like it almost did Robbie Keane's haha

He'll probably play alongside Alonso, as the left sided central midfielder with Gerrard just infront. He'll basically take over from Lucas I reckon.

Benitez only uses Mascherano sparingly now, he's not needed against the majority of teams who come to Anfield and put ten men behind the ball. Barry is more creative and would be a better option when it comes to breaking down teams.

Alot of players are squad players at Liverpool, that's just the way it is. Same goes for Chelsea, Man utd and Arsenal.

They all rotate there squads.

True. But they very rarely have a young world class player who plays regularly for their country, is captain of that country, sitting off without them wanting to move because they're not getting games.

Apart from Tevez at Manure (and we all know about whether he's going or staying etc and has whinged before about not playing all the time), Chelsea, United and Arsenal dont have the calibre of players on their bench as Mascherano IMO. If that were true Ronaldo, Fabregas, Lampard for eg would sit out games if they were poor because they have someone equally as good or better on the bench.

What they do have are strength and quality in depth but non of their players better than their starting 11 in reality, its why you start with that 11. I know Mascherano is a defensive midfield player and it changes the style of play for a team, but there are players that can do that job that would be happy to be on the bench and dont cost £20million or whatever they paid for Mascherano.

They should buy Barry then, cause a bit of player unrest at the club haha.

Barry would replace Alonso assumedly, that was obviously the plan last year until they priced him out of a move to Juventus. Seems a puzzling one though, most of my red mates would rather keep Alonso, I think I would too in their position.

I doubt Lescott wants to leave and I'm sure we don't want to sell. This is just silly paper talk.

I'm sure every player that joins a Benitez team knows what's going to happen, they will be in and out the team. That’s the way he does things and that’s the way he will continue to do things. He likes to use his squad.

Alonso, Gerrard, Mascherano and Lucas have all been involved in enough games to keep them happy, I’m sure Barry will just slot into one of there roles and play 20-30 games a season.

You never know, he might play ahead of Mascherano who has been disappointing this season compared to last season and is also a very defensive player, Benitez might looking for a player who can do both roles, both defence and attack. Something Barry can do aswell as play left back and left midfield if needed.

Lescott won't be leaving - if I were playing, I'd want to stay at Everton just to see what the side can do when fully fit. Presuming Jo stays, Arteta, Yak and Anichebe return at full fitness, Rodwell and Gosling get a touch more seasoning and Moyes works a little magic in the summer transfer window, why would you leave?

This team will finish either 5th or 6th, play in Europe and maybe the defending FA Cup Champions with the adversity of injury.

If you're Lescott, you have to stay just to see what the Blues could do next season.

There are two reasons for Lescott to go:

1. Loads more money. Villa can't double his salary. They're cutting back.
2. CL football. Villa can't give him CL football. They're crap nowadays.

The worry with a player like Lescott is whether a club that can match either of the two come in for him. But for the moment, he's going nowhere.

I think you'll find that Lescott isnt a fan anymore, especially after all the sick stuff they've shouted at him.

Its a lazy jouroids doing their thang.

Lets not link the red tops shall we.

now why would we sell a quality player like lescott to a competing team up for the same honours as us? We might have sold players in the past to the highest bidders. But all this transfer speculation is ridiculous...Moyse won't let him go and why should he? He is the nucleous of our defense even if he has had a few wobblies this season.

Kenwright should back up what he said on sunday "i'll do anything for moyse". and give him the cash in the summer to go to the next level or we'll move backwards with the spuds, villa and city likely to spend bigger in the summer.
