Leighton Baines

Luke Shaw will probs play under Moist soon

If he was smart like he'd give another 1-year deal to Evra and get this lid at the end of the season. Bed him in to become a regular - if he's good enough - throughout the next season after this.

I do think Baines has quietly rejected Everton's renewal offer and has decided to leave, but that whether he goes in January or the summer will depend on Martinez.

There doesn't appear to be a pressing need to sell in order to appease the banks right now, but the manager will know that any squad strengthening will need to be funded by sales. The over-reliance on Barry, McCarthy, Barkley and Lukaku could influence his thinking, especially with the latter two running out of steam a bit lately.

The team as a whole wouldn't benefit from Baines going but it would be interesting to see what would happen if we can't get a replacement and Oviedo or Garbutt ends up having to be LB for the remainder of the season

Talk about trial by fire

*shudders

I like Oviedo, mate. And have heard good things about Garbutt....

But there's no 2 ways about it, if we sold Baines we'd need to buy a first 11 LB.

You might not be far off

Martinez loves hiring the slap happy useless players he used to employ from his Wigan days (McCarthy aside, they've all been rubbish IMO)

Bit unfair on Alcaraz. He's been injured. Joel looked good pre-season, but will be disappointed with the goals he conceded in the Cup.

But yeeah, I imagine we've been monitoring LB replacements since the summer. So expect a replacement if Baines does go.

If Baines has done his metatarsal today (as is rumoured), I can't see United being willing to pay what we want for him in January (£20m). They probably weren't going to do that anyway, but if he's broken his metatarsal, at age 29, they're probably not doing it now unless they are absolutely desperate for him.

I don't want Baines injured at all, his absence would be a big blow... but it might be an end (for now) to the incessant transfer rumours in the papers.

If he does miss a few weeks who do people see as his replacement would Martinez i thought Barry was fine there but we dont want to play him there unless we have to, will he just do a straight swap for Oviedo?

Personally I would like to see Distin move to left back and then Stones takes Distins place in centre half but to be totally honest I would only like to see that so we get to see Stones get some full games, would love to see how we goes for 90minutes at a Premier League level and I also think it would be fantastic for his development.

Although let's just hope Baines is fine and only went of to be safe.
