I'd say £20m is a relatively reasonable price for him given the fact he'll be 29. However, as it's January and United are looking like our rivals this year, lash another £5m on it and don't accept anything less.
The other option is to not sell at any price, but if he wants to go and there's a reasonable offer, he's a top fella who's been ever-present and always quality for us, so we should let him go and push for Shaw (unlikely) or another good replacement.
It'll horrible if he does go, like.
Simple fact mate is that we shouldn't even entertain a bid for any player until the summer now, definately not of a rival and in no way shape or form should we deal with united again for a few years
No chance on shaw btw, southampton are i think the third wealthiest club in the country now, based on owners wealth etc, and their seriously backed by him too

Baines has done everything 100% right on the pitch for our club, off it and also has acted superbly in the face of interest and bids from United in the past. The least we can do is match him on that. He wanted to go in the summer and we said no because the offers weren't good enough. That's fine, it's our prerogative.
However, if the offer is reasonable, we would be utter c*nts to stand in his way. The price will be inflated due to the fact we're half way through a season, but there is and has to be a price.
I am not sure about this, Paul.
I agree with everything you say about Baines's behaviour and also that every player has his price.
However, if January comes and we are involved in a fight for a CL spot with United then I suggest we would be mad to allow them to strengthen by selling them a player whose absence would weaken our team.
Furthermore, I couldn't see Roberto allowing it.
And whilst EFC oughtn't be c*nts about a move, Bill Kenwright must tell him that we are putting the needs and ambitions of our club above his. I think Leighton would be level headed enough to understand that fact.
After all, that's what United told Chelsea when they enquired about Rooney in the summer.
I think Leighton will be told he can't leave for OT until the end of the season and that the club won't stand in his way at that time.
And by that time who knows?
It might be Everton in the CL and United playing in the Thursday Night Cup and he might think it better to stay here![]()
I differ on that mate, and whilst he has been nothing but a model pro for us, i don't buy into this lark lately of not standing in a players way, he is under contract to us, being payed more per week than 99% of us on here will earn in a year, so sorry if my heart doesnt bleed for him that he wont get the chance to play for such an illustrious club as United, he's under contract and regardless of who he wants to play for he is an everton player and all the rest is media bull**** fed by uniteds pr department, look at suarez over the road, how dare the ****e keep him against his wishes, for once on that regard we should take a leaf out of their book
I don't 100% disagree with any of that, however:
The first bolded part is the reason why any price would be considerably higher than it would be in the summer. .
As regards to the second, we stood in his way last summer for good reason. He is going on 29, has won nothing, has a quite frankly ridiculously small number of England caps to his name when you consider his ability and consistency over the last 4/5 years (and is still not considered first choice by many, laughably) and has barely played any European football, which is also a joke.
IF and only if the offer is huge and we aren't looking very, very good in the CL race, I believe we have to let him go. I can't see anyone coming in for him again after this window, tbh. United will probably solve their LB issue this window, Baines or not.
And that could well turn out to be the mother of all false economies.
So we get an extra 5 or 6 million for him in January than we would in the summer?
But in doing so lose out on a CL place which would generate maybe 30 million in extra revenue. Or more even.
No sir, hoping to squeeze an extra few million in January is totally no reason to sell.
It's time to be bold.
The only reason Baines has no more than a "ridiculously small number" if England caps is because for the last ten years England have had a better left back in front of him.
In fact, probably the best in the world for a few years circa 2006 ish.
One Ashley Cole.
If Ashley hadn't been around, Leighton would have had over 50 caps by now, I am sure.
And that is more or less what myself and others are saying.
In January, if Everton are involved in a CL chase with United then we tell them to do one.
It's a no brainer, Paul.
EFC are more important than Leighton Baines and we have made the man a multi millionaire over the past numbet of years and he is under contract to us so we do what is right by our club, not any individual player.
That's what I think anyway.....other people may feel differently and that is their right.
