BXGJ71dCEAAZQP Incredible doppelganger! Leighton Baines was at the 1970 World Cup match between England & RomaniaEither Everton’s Leighton Baines is a time traveller or… no. Leighton Baines must be a time traveller.

Here he is in 1970 at the Mexico World Cup watching England in a group game against Romania.

He’s got the sideburns and everything.

Hopefully the full back will feature in next summer’s World Cup

What restraints do you think Moyes put on him? Looks the same to me.

Not restraints as such, my point was from a flair and individual point of view.
I think sometimes Baines became frustrated with the extremely systematic gameplan Moyes had, which worked most of the time in baines' favour mind you, as long as Pienaar was on the pitch. I just see Baines cutting inside a bit more, and when we normally would have sat back or taken the ball backwards under Moyes, it was nice to see Baines still running at opponents during added time even though we were only a goal up.

Basically I think I see old Leighton enjoying his football a bit more, with a little less caution for what COULD go wrong and therefore expecting the worse. Then again, it might just be me.

(THIS WAS NOT A DIG AT MOYES)

diving is part of the game now, every single player has done it and I have always wanted us to start doing it and I've always wanted us to start having words with the ref which I noticed jagielka doing a couple of times vs Hull.

RM asked twice about Baines in his press conference this morning.

Sounds to me like we aint offered him one yet...RM says its not an issue, its not important...its time for Leighton to concentrate on his football.

Either that or we have, its been rejected and something is going on behind the scenes.

I still cant see him going in Jan tbh. After the last few games and the type of transfer window Jan is - it would take a mega offer from United to get him.

Well let's hope they make one then and we take the dosh......if Baines wants to go.

I hate the uncertainty hanging over Baines's future with us so I would rather he signs a new contract and gets on with it or he asks for a transfer and goes on his merry way with my best wishes.

It won't be the end of the world for us......and it won't be a panacea for United.

But c'et la vie.

I really would be distraught if Baines goes. To get someone in who could match his performance levels and ability striaght away on our (probable) limited budget is not mean feat. Frankly, we'd need to find a youngster of similar potential and encourage them to blossom.

ben davies is the only possible replacement in my eyes (don't think baines will ever leave though).

luke shaw would be too expensive, but davies looks really good already.
