if we can hold out for £24m for Lescott we can hold out for more than that for Bainesy!

Isn't it United trying to get him though?

If City were in for him I'd hold out for at least £25-£30m, but United don't spend the same kind of cash.

£15-20m
trying to be realistic here.

It happends if it happends....
hopefully he stays, though....but if not, I expect that Moyes has ace plan B

They've deffo got that kind of cash though - £30m for Rio, £30m for Berbatov etc... they can afford it, plus i bet they've still got a huge chunk of the Ronaldo money lying around

Between £15-£20mill

We're not in a strong position to command massive fees from top clubs IMO. 3 seasons ago when we were challenging top 4, maybe, but not now. Out financial position is well documented and its not as though he'd be going to a Spurs, Newcastle etc he'd be going to a club that's a true step forward in his career.

We need to sell. And one big money transfer is better that 3 small money ones to not gut the already thin squad.

Yes we are. Baines is under contract for 3 years, settled, doesn't want to leave and Moyes doesn't want him to leave.

If finances were so desperate and dire, we wouldn't have signed Naismith. Make Utd pay for a top player. They won't though, so this is all for nought.

They won't spend that much on a fullback though surely. It's hardly even a priority position for them, and Baines isn't really young anymore.

It has to be £20m+, looking at closer to £25m. There's no better available left back in world football, he's under contract, the player is happy, he's not breaking the wage budget at the club and he's a key player for us.

If we sold for anything less than £20m I'd be livid. It'd be inexcusable.

As someone said above, yes - it is 2012, an era when the likes of Andy Carroll goes for £35m. Why we should be short-changed for one of our best players and just meekly accept this is baffling.

Anything less than £20m would be very disappointing.

And Jelavic went for under £5million. You cannot seriously compare the price to value range of one player to any other because there are too many variables.

All things considered if Man U buy Baines from us this summer it will be for between £15-£20 million.

Thats a realistic price but one that means people playing fantasy football manager will be dissapointed.
