..if I could compare Gomes to any former Everton player, it would be Martin Dobson. He looks tall, elegant and classy to me but i’m not certain who he’d come in for.

Think things are on the up. Unlucky not to have more points on the board. Siggy is looking like a real player and we have threat from the front 4 now. I really think we have a chance of top5/6 finish this season.

Yes, we are playing much better and are much better to watch. But don't raise your hopes too high for this season! We will be in competition with Bournemouth, Leicester, Watford and Wolves.

There is still an enormous gap between us and the big six. While there is a question mark over Manchester United, the other five are already in place.

It’s amazing what having proper football players up front makes to a side. For the last few seasons, probably since the Koeman and Walsh disaster and Lukaku left, we just haven’t looked like scoring, goals come from random punts or moments of class (same can be said about Gylfi’s yesterday I guess).

Hats off to Brands and Marco, we may finish 7th but at least it’ll be fun.

I'm feeling a bit more relaxed about things after today. Not perfect, but we're looking a lot better up front and I think we
will see further improvement. Digne looks really good and if Coleman can stay fit and get back to his pre-injury form, together with a new, solid CB partnership, we could do OK.
