Galloway has done nothing wrong, in fact he's done most things really well. Baines is top class, and but for injury would have played every game. I would just about plump for Baines based on his experience and ability to score and assist as well as defend.
The same question could be asked about Mori and Stones, and you'd get the same argument. It shows you want a strong squad Roberto is building here.

Galloway should be allowed to play himself out of the side, which he will do. It's par for the course with young players...

This, really.

The lad has been one of our better players in most games so far, dropping him just because Baines is back would be entirely counterproductive - it would do nothing for his confidence, would do nothing for the confidence of our other young players and restoring his place without having to fight for it would do nothing for Baines either; it would be a repeat of the Howard / Robles decision last season except even more perverse than that was.

Baines is first choice, so will not be long after his return before he is starting.

A lot depends when his return is though. League Cup fixtures? Christmas glut of games?

Once he's fully fit I'd expect 1 or 2 bench appearances whilst we try to get him some competitive minutes. Reserves, mins off the bench or behind closed door friendlies. Probably have a few of the walking wounded needing minutes.

But it will only be a couple of games max before he is back starting.

Except Howard was playing like crap when he got injured, hardly the same.

It depends on Galloways form as Baines gets near full fitness, at the moment there's no rush and Baines can recuperate properly. If Galloway suffers a dip in confidence or form it may be more urgent, but if he carries on in the same manner Baines will have to wait his time.

Behave yourselves. Baines is one of the best left backs in Europe. It would be criminal to leave him on the bench when he's only got about 2-3 years left in him.
