Ledson to leave Everton?

Sorry to see Ryan go, like most thought there were big things ahead of him when Martinez was talking him up at the end of his first season and expected to see more of him. Unfortunately his development has stalled and others have taken their chance putting Ryan down the pecking order. Ledson probably pushed for the move himself and wanted to play proper football as opposed to being stuck playing U23s. Good luck to the lad and really hope that he can make it back to the prem like Forshaw has. There will be all types of clauses in this deal where I am sure we will have first option on him and get a massive % of any sell on fee. Still think he will make it in the premiership and I applaud the lad for not being happy to sit and take his wages and wanting to get out and make his career work. Everton maybe following the Barca model of allowing other teams to develop their players to the level they want and then buy them back at a fraction of what other teams would pay?

Has Zat been in here to have a moan about our best and brightest leaving?
He's just gutted he has to bin all of his "Everton 11 in 10 years time exclusively of youth players" formations and threads that had him in.

19 year old England u20 international.

As mentioned by @blueloon i think in the youth thread, if Oxford had an u20 England international larger clubs would be looking at him.

He should have been loaned for another season to see how he did with Lundstram, nothing to lose for us then.

maybe he didnt want another loan. hes probably seen how far down the pecking order he is and decided to make a go of it elsewhere. fair play to him

I wish him well and hope he has a great career.
I think he has done the right thing and the club has done the right thing for him.
He can start now to build his career and let that take him where it will.
He had started to slip back at Everton and needed a new challenge.

Probably have to sign him back for 30 million in a few years time!
Wish the lad well in the future

In terms of youngsters in centre midfield, it seems Davies, Walsh and Williams will probably be ahead of him. He's taken a chance of first team football, good luck to him.

Top post, but the above was the best bit of it.

It must be all too easy for young lads to take the easy option, but it looks like Ledson wants to be proactive with his career and is willing to up sticks and get on with it.

Saw him a few times at Cambridge last season. He did well, and as an 18 year old playing regularly in League 2 is really difficult.

However he didn't really stand out as being a class above that level. As a comparison Walsh won rave reviews at Yeovil playing in the same league.

Good luck to him, this is the best move he could make at this stage of his career. Really well liked player who has real leadership qualities.
