Last Film You Watched

Watched this on Film4 the other night.

True life story of 22 yr old Cheryl Strayed whose life was falling to bits following the death of her mother and decided to get her head together and off smack, by walking the 1100 mile Pacific Costal Trail. She with no prior experience or training.

Reese Witherspoon is very good and looks much better without tons of make up, but it's one of those films that uses flashbacks to emphasise stuff and this ruins the flow of the film.

I enjoyed it and it wasn't only because of Reese W showing a bit more than usual.

That's not a flaw, that's most of the film content, and he was struggling with his reception. Come on mate.

Yeah fair dos mate.

Aside from that, one thing I did notice, the bit when the company called him and recorded the convo getting him to admit he knew the risks...etc I can imagine some layer at a big US multi national doing that kind of thing to avoid a big payout.

Went to see "A Ghost Story" , once you get past Casey Affleck in the halloween costume it deals with some pretty deep stuff. It's very well made/filmed (can't think of the right expression) with a lot of long and quiet scenes, I think it will divide opinion the way American Honey and Paterson did on here. I thought it was very good.

Brill. Love the apes films me. Grew up watching the old ones, I know the later ones are a bit ropey but I got a real soft spot for the 'planet of'. When they announced that they were doing a CGI remake, directed by a guy who'd basically done Hollyoaks, my hopes were not high, but this is one of the great movie trilogies. Compelling, tragic, ambitious big budget cinema with tons of action along with moments of pure heart and at the centre of it, an evolution in technical work that reached an apex in this one; simply stunning effects.
Lovely soundtrack as well.

It's the monkey business.
I see what you did there.

I watched Tom Cruise's Mummy last night.

Was sort of alright, but then she drew the blinds just when she was getting down to her underwear. It made downstairs Buckethead so unhappy, i nearly fell out of the tree.

Rookie mistake, although Thomas Cruise Mapother IV still looks young, his mum must be in her eighties now. Ewww.

Edit: She died earlier this year, not all bad for Tom, he can now be in a film with her when they do 'The Mummy Returns'.

Valerian.

I dont know whether I liked it or not, which means I didnt hate it.

Interesting, weird, feels like the film he should have made after Fifth Element. The mains dont quite work, they should have been older.

Enjoyed the 3D.
